Need A Diagnosis Center - Electrical

Aji

Question

Dear friends

About a month back, I wrote here that in my MAZDA bogo(Diesel, YOM 200), the glow plug light is blinking in the dash board. Now I understood that it is an indicaton of either a sensor is out of order of some loose connection of a wire. (Glow plugs are getting heated up and cut off the circuit properly)

Can you tell me a good place with scanning facilities with good electricians to check this fault and repair at a reasonable charge. P_LA auto are they good.

What will happen if I run without rapair with this blinking(ie a sensor not properly working). I am in Gampaha and coming to Colombo.

Thanks

best regards

Aji

Hi Aji

pala auto might be good but will be costly, if you are traveling through kandy road why don't you got to Upul Auto Electricals at dalugama , they are good but little busy people talk to him and arrange a time with. :)

Pala isn't cheap but they do a pretty decent job. So since this sounds like a small deal a normal joint should be able to sort it out for you.

I got a alternator rebuilt by Pala and they did an excellent job... wasn't cheap but since i was there the whole time it was evident that they have few things in order :)

you can try what Sumith is recommending

Hi,

I also have the same to share about Pala Auto, as they seem to do a good job, but the service charges are very costly indeed. I had a problem with the batteries getting overcharged. When checked the Exide battery at the Browns PowerMart, they showed it was charging way over the max 14v. (it was charging around 17.5 v when revving up the engine). So went to Pala after recommendation from a guy at A*W (as they dont do Alternator repairs).

So they figured out the Regulator IC was burnt, and had to be replaced and got it done. Then the voltage issue was fixed and I was happy, though they charged Rs 2800 as service charges alone(4.6k for the Regulator IC part). Then when I started the engine in morning, I coudnt switch it off ! (first time i heard that, i have head cars not being able to start, but not this :)))). Even after switching off the engine it kept on running for 15-20 secs and gradually slows down and turn off in the end. And the 'check engine' light was ON at times and would go off after driving about 30-60 mins. Then I went to Pala again, they seemed not sure what to do, and put a diode in a connector to Alternator and said ok. Still the same probs were there. Went there to the 3rd time, then they again replaced the regulator IC which was replaced with an original one came for my car. (earlier they had used a 2 pin one and the original had 3 pin one, as I was told). This time the prob was fixed. I did not have to pay extra (i woudnt also) than the initial payement, but I had to spend 3 days of my time (which they cant pay me for), for a mistake they did at first.

So my word about Pala is, they seemed good with elec repairs. And the good thing is you can discuss with the owner in a friendly way and sort things out. But their service charges seemed too high.

Yeah, Pala is good in their work. The guys (especially the owner) seems to be knowing what he's really doing. But they are v.expensive.

I had a problem with my head lights some time back. Basically, the head lights blew out v.frequently! I went to few places and they couldn't really figure out why. Then I went to Pala. The technician at Pala was also confused first, later the owner came and figured-out the problem. They managed to fix it by properly connecting few wires. Apparenly few wires had been incorrectly wired. They cleand my headlights and put two new bulbs wich cost Rs: 500 each. the total charge was 6500...

Pala is very expensive also most of their senior guys has left the place. don't go there. I was charged very high amounts for my work for last couple of months. Ultimately I found out that even if I give the job to Toyota Lanka, they are cheaper than Pala.

e.g. Toyota KDH200 air filter at Pala is : Rs. 4300. ( I checked it with GS Auto and they have the same filter for Rs. 3000)

Thats ok,service levels can change, so its good to have constant updates. The only thing to remember is, this IS the internet, so you need to consider all factors before taking advice.
