Does anyone know where I can download service manuals? I have a link for a paid download but before I go ahead I was wondering whether there would be an alternative option to get a hold of the service manual?

(When I go into the agent for repairs they have a resource that provides them with step by step instructions based on the component being serviced and that's kind of what I want access to.)

I did and google provided me with the paid link as above. I just want to see if there are any other alternatives our mechanically minded DIY folk can direct me to before I pony up my credit card info.

This is for a W166 we have in the family. Its such a small issue: The climate control doesn't always turn on when I leave the garage (where its cooler); it kicks in when the temperature gets really high or after I get into it when its been parked outside and the car is really hot. I found a couple of videos dealing with this on the W211 where you vacuum off the interior temp sensors on the car and it seems simple enough to do. The only issue is the locations of the temp sensor on the W166 are probably different and google doesn't have a lot of info available for the W166. It'd be nice to confirm the location of these sensors and the procedure to access them properly before I start hacking away...

A google search found out that the Mercedes have computerized workshop manuals, divided by classes. Its a massive computer program (30GB+) which you have to type in the VIN of your M class car and it shows everything related to the model...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-M-class-workshop-service-repair-manual-1997-2013-W163-W164-W166-/322208246566?hash=item4b051bab26:g:CWIAAOSwymxVM3tR

BTW I don't see the W166 listed on alldatadiy

Oh wow. Thanks man, I didn't think it'd be available via ebay. I'll check ebay and amazon too now for a cheaper source before I fork over the money for the manuals. Really appreciate the tip Jor-el.

(Also the W166 is listed under MB-Trucks on alldatadiy, not under MB. Why?- No clue, but that's where it is...)

My pleasure and yes, apparently you can get the updated version of the same program for just £9 via eBay, how cool is that? You have to download it yourself tho
