Gps Map For Sri Lanka

how detailed are these maps? do they ahve labels for even small by roads?

I doubt it is illegal. But by sticking the holder on your windshield when its stationed you'll be advertising to potential thieves that you have such a device in your car.

This map shows villages, small towns, main cities, bridges, lakes, main roads(A,B grade).

Dear Hyacc

I have same GPS which was taken from ebay. Could you please tell me

what you have done for this GPS to convert Garmin.

If you can give it,

it is highly appreciated

Download this files

http://rapidshare.com/files/327368443/Garm...wsCE_50020w.rar

Extract the contents.

Save the following code in a file as Garmin.mscr

Copy this file to Garmin\RunGMXT folder.

Download this file

http://rapidshare.com/files/61579171/SriLanka.img

Rename it to gmapsupp.img

Copy this file to Garmin folder.

Get the latest poi file from ironbutcher_x. Create a folder as POI inside Garmin folder and copy poi file to that folder.

Copy the Garmin folder to root of your SD Card.

Go to Windows CE in our device and click Start -> Run dialog box and browse to SDMMC/Garmin/RunGMXT and select Garmin.exe and click ok and run it.

(or create a shortcut to desktop. this is the best way to run this application. If you go to Windows Explorer and open this app it'll run very slowly)

Then follow the instructions found in Keygen folder.

"Garmin.mscr"

Errorlevel("warn")

If(WndExists("Garmin Mobile XT"))
    Show("Garmin Mobile XT")
    Exit
EndIf

Are you asking about Garmin? Nah, it doesn't capture one way roads.... That's too much to ask from software that doesn't provide fully fledged support to countries like us. Besides we r actullay using a cracked version of it ...

true. but i think you can do customizations like adding preferred routes, missing roads, etc. so getting garmin to consider our one way roads could be possible...

Dear ELNINO,

As you hv pointed out for me in another topic raised by me for this issue, latter version (.....40) does not hv that option. But the new version is said to be unstable as you mentioned. This is an encoding error as you've said. So i'v corrected it with some GPS software and did an overly map. Now i have all the labels nicely visible on map on older version.

Anyone need me to share it with?

BTW, that ONE WAY issue, im wrking on. Hope i can do something. (Actualy i'v already found a way, but experiencing two problems, 1. obtaining actual information on one way roads of Colombo and suburbs. If you can help me out with this info, i'll fix it. 2. Limitations of my cmptr and sofware im using. Ill try and find a way to overcome this soon) Cheers!

Guys,

Here is the map. Gmapprom1.Img.Zip by Bigupload.Com

Dwnld it and save it in GA*M*N folder. Rename your SL map file to GMAPSUPP.img (if it is not) and make this overly map renamed as gmapprom.img. Thats it! Enjoy! :alc:

I found some bug here (dont know you'll face it or not), when you do it, still the labels are not visible :action-smiley-060:. If so, rename the SL map file as your name (hi hi, just anything man.. .) while keeping the overly map as gmapprom.img. Run GA*M*N once. Ofcrs it'll not show any roads coz it'l not read the SL map. But zoom the map out and play with it for a while. Then close it down. Now rename the SL map file again back to GMAPSUPP.img and run it. (I think we should teach stupid GA*M*N to use our overly map this way... :D ) I donnow, sometimes there might be a big technical background for this to happen. But why bother, when we have an easy way.

And one foot note here, Dont blame me when labels are not visible while the map is zoomed out a lot if you r using auto zoom feature on (of crz im using it too). Coz when extensively zoomed out, it will show only the major cities. I can correct this too.. but it'll make the map invisible as it'll be covered with all the small village names when zoomed out. :action-smiley-060:

And the limitation i was talking to ELNINO is that im having a memory dump when i try to export the map with roads in to GA*M*N format. :action-smiley-060: (but my RAM is 4GB!) Actually thats y ive gone for an overlay map without roads instead of correcting the original map. So i need to split the thing to small parts which this unregistered software im using not letting me to do... <_< <_< Hi hi, it is not the only gps software available.. i'll find a way... BTW, where i can get those one way info from google maps?

@Wheel.. dude managed to get the towns by following ur method, but still cannot get the street labels... maybe il redo ur process to see.. btw im using the .40 version on my 5800.. if this doesnt work.. i guess i will have to install the new software.. or maybe im just not destined to see sri lanka from a virtual view.. :( thanks again guys!

No turboholic you cant get street names out of this as the map you and me using does not contain any street names. What you can see is what the map has. Either we can start a project to develop this map, or someone already have done it for you.

If you r that concerned of details then go to S*L* Pro Sat in No. 445, Haveloc Road, Col 6. They have a nice set of developed and detailed maps with 3.5"-4.5" digital displays where you might even use it to find a wash room in an emergency :D . But of crs you hv to pay for what you r getting. Ranging from 35k to 50k. Well, if you need those details that much, those cost figures seems reasonable.

Hi guys i've installed the garmin mobile xt for the chinese windows CE device but it is too slow on booting up, and too much slow of working with the maps aswell :S, any commes and any advices appriciated.

How did you run it? If you go to windows explorer and run it it will be very slow. I also have a chinese GPS and came across the same problem. I overcame this problem by this method I posted above.

Go to Windows CE in your device and click Start -> Run dialog box and browse to SDMMC/Garmin/RunGMXT and select Garmin.exe and click ok and run it.

(or create a shortcut to desktop. this is the best way to run this application. If you go to Windows Explorer and open this app it'll run very slowly)
