Not an expert, but the trip computer indicates around 10.5l per 100km, which works out to slightly under 10kmpl for city with AC. On the auto. Will easily do 14 on a decent outstation run. Last run to Galle and back with some minor running around Galle for the day cost approx 3000. (only uses 95 btw)

Only complaints:

autobox is slow and mushy, specially with the A/C on. Apparently this issue is only on the early models, the newer ones are supposed to be better.

Steering is EPS and very very light. Its like a Corolla. Personally, I don't like that.

Fit and finish aint great. Cheap materials and hard plastics on steering and dashboard. Again a personal thing.

Pro:

Looks really good. Inside and out. Often gets mistaken for a Euro. From ppl who don't know about cars obviously, but still.

Easy to drive

Nippy engine, loves to rev (1.6)

beautifully sorted chassis and suspension (second car fully designed by Lotus after Proton acquired Lotus.) Great grips

Mine is a full option, cheap dash offset by leather seats. "Race" style. I would prefer a movable headrest, but whatever.

Lots of toys. Trip computer, steering mounted controls for radio, Blaupunkt stereo specially designed for Proton, reverse sensors, etc.

Weird points. No glove box. Cubby hole if you want to call it that. There is a shelf. Even on the drivers side.

About parts, I dunno, my dad always takes it to the agents, so haven't really looked at parts outside of that.

No idea on the price either. We bought it brand new for 2.65mill. Few months later saw some advertised for 2.2 mill. meh. Had ours for about 5 years now.

I agree, the interior doesn't seem all that great in terms of quality IMO. Checked out a 2006 1.3l once and the gear lever, door handles, etc., were not too pretty. Acceleration seemed a bit lazy too. Seemed like a solid ride though, and for that price, i guess you can't complain too much.

Btw, is the Gen2 CPS available here? It's interior looks pretty nifty;

@ Pericles; Tkz a lot for the comment. really useful. Is it 2005 model? what is the curent use market price for that?

@DarkangeL; Last few months I am following Gen 2 cars but so far I didnt c GEN2 CPS in sri lanka.

I found Gen2 modified version with 2tone interior YOM 2003. It was the best I came a cross so far and the price he asked Rs 15.75 laks.

Also I found 2005 and 2006 models at the range of Rs 16laks and 17laks.

But I would like to have Manual 1.3CC NOT 1.6CC since it does lil more fuel use.

So if any one have 1.3CC manual/Auto please lemme know.

Any GEN 2 Owners here who can comment on fuel consumption ???? like to c few feedbaks

How about spareParts ??? any othre agent than main agent??

Unless you can verify from an owner, don't assume the 1.3 will be better than the 1.6 on fuel. Considering the N16 (which is somewhat similarly sized) 1.3 is considered underpowered and bad on fuel, you might be able to make a similar assumption on this. Also the 1.6 has a few more bells and whistles. All round disk brakes is the important one. Also look for differences in airbags, etc.

Ours was bought in 2006. I'll look up the year when I get home. No idea on the current price, dads pretty happy and not selling, so not useful to keep track. It'll have lost about 1 million on the bought price anyway.

brother my advice is to go for 1.6 manual if yu wannna enjoy the ride.and im pretty sure 1.3 may not give you a better milage figure than 1.6

Black. And no, its my dads, and like I said somewhere, he likes it. Heck I like it. It was the only car my entire family could agree on that everyone liked. My mom wanted a blasted Civic before seeing this one, for chrissake!

BTW, you had mentioned 1.3 auto/manual. Back when we bought it, the 1.3 came with only one gearbox option. I can't remember if it was auto or manual, but you didn't get both, only the 1.6 had both options. Probably manual, which is mostly why we went for the 1.6, my dad wanted an auto. Said he was getting too old to keep working clutches in the city. :)

Dunno if this changed later and they started offering both on the 1.3, but they didn't back when we bought it.

what the heck??? Swedish Trading doing a great job??? lol

u havent faced the reality yet bro...

we ordered a brand new right hand side front door from swedish trading for our Proton Waja & when we went to collect the door, it has been damaged due to their carelessness. we didnt collect it & the guy who was in-charge simply said to the worker "put it inside our store, we can sell it to another proton waja owner" :action-smiley-060:

this is one of the bad experience that we had with swedish trading. Earlier we had a Proton Wira which we bought from D*MO (Prev Proton agent) and they did a wonderful service.. but swedish........pffffffffffffffff :violent-smiley-099:

well... I'll tell u one thing, dont EVER put your car to swedish trading for body repairs or painting jobs... mechanical repairs they seem to be ok...

I own a Waja..

there are few outside people who brings down parts for Proton... But Maruchi Lanka is shit man.... they are selling second hand doors double the price of brand new doors, lol

but its damn cheap if u could directly import from Malaysia.. a brand new tail light costs u around Rs.5000 odd

there is a person in pitakotte and another fellow in ratmalana who imports Proton parts... if u want i can PM u the contact nombers bro.. but before buying from outside, just inquire the price of that particular from the company

Well no experience on a Gen 2 in LK but in Malaysia (Proton Persona) its a pretty popular car after the SAGA and viva. Fuel consumption is going to be a little on the upper side if you're going for 1.6L, it does around 8-9 KMPL. A/C is good imo cuz proton collaborates with Denso to work on it( Not sure for early models but 2007 model has DENSO). The car has a lowered front stance so you might wanna be a little careful when you are going over ditches. Car is pretty good for its pricepoint and no complaints. Plastic dash and car itself looks more valuable/stylish for its price point.  Just make sure to check the engine mounts, steering rack noise and gearbox smoothness( the proton gearbox is not the smoothest out there but some people with a heavy foot can cause it to go nuts, try accelerating smoothly for a stretch of road and suddenly put your foot down, if it jerks too much or feels like its stuck in a gear and RPM not going up ur looking at a pretty beat up gear box)

Anyway good luck with your new set of wheels!

Help me......

I had a Proton Gen 2 about 10 years ago.

At that time I always went to the proton/volvo dealer's service place in Ratmalana.

Some parts were pricy but they always managed to get the parts down.

Not sure about situation right now.
