Nissan Cefiro Uncovered

OT, A thing that I can see with many cefiro owners is that they try to keep their cars in perfect condition ( all the tune-ups, oil changes, injector cleaning etc etc) to get the best possible gas mileage out of them, which is not what you see in a corolla or a sunny owner (well, most of them  ) and as a result you see many spoiled corollas and sunnys on the road.

Even most of the forum members seem to be taking very good care of their cars ;

I do the engine tuneup and throttlebody cleanup at the Nissan Agents. They do a pretty good job.

See? So IMHO maybe, just maybe there aren't many spoiled cefiros out there on the road (apart from the fact that there arent may cefiros on the road anyway)

but i think a corolla can take lot more spoiling than a cefiro.

on another note. i know some cefiro owners who are determined to keep their car in good order but don't know the right things to do or check to accomplish that. for example in my wife's former office there was a chap owning an A33 who treats it like his child. but he had driven the car quite long without noticing that one of the ignition coils is not working properly, as a consequence his fuel consumption was quite bad too.

I agree. I haven't had much experience with other car brands, but I guess it comes down to owners not knowing where to find people who specialise in particular brands or models. Or most of them simply aren't very mechanically conversant. Take me, for example. I love cars and all, but I feel like an idiot when it comes to mechanical problems.... It's great that forums like this exist, but I imagine only a handful of people actually read the threads and post here.

They sure do mate, :) But do you think some bloke would just buy a cefiro in spite of the fact that he knows very little about the car?

yes. some know the car at a high level well (might even be interested on those high level details) but might not know about specifics on maintenance. take me for an example. i just happened to meet the right people at the right time to figure out some specifics. i was lucky but in reality i am quite ignorant about the whole subject of maintenance specifics.

hey. im driving a cefiro too, its a A33. Comfort and driving experience is awsome.

well there are couple of things which i'm worried and lacking knowledge. Hope u guys can help me on it.

When i try to start the car it it takes about 2sec -3 sec to start. (i mean i have to hold the key :( ) i Assume that something wrong with fuel pumping.

I wanted to get my filter checked but couldn't as yet. Any particular thing might have gone wrong?

by starting the vehicle like this, would it cause some other issue? :(

about the fuel system cleaners... i had a issue with cold starts that they were talking bit more time than usual. my mechanic advised me to use the cleaner to unblock the fuel pump and yes it did work for me. now it's "gahapu gama start in an instant no matter what"

What was the 'fuel system cleaner' you used? and how to use it?

i used wurth. it's simple. you add it to your petrol tank in a certain ratio and run the vehicle until tank is almost empty. i think instructions are there in the bottle it self. that's it. i have also noticed that my start also gets late if i keep the engine in ON mode for too long before starting the vehicle. i noticed that there is no delay what so ever when i start the car soon after the airbag sign turns off. (i.e. 1-2 seconds after being in ON mode)

about whether it is ok to have a delayed start... i think that can cause more ware and tare in your starter motor. not an expert on the subject but that is what i think is the case.

about the wattala fella you have inquired in the PM. his name is Vasant and his number is 0777222883.

I assume you bought your car recently. if you don't mind kindly share the details about the car you have bought as i am hunting for a A33 for my buddy nowdays. i need to know the following information.

YOM, reg. number, cracked dash or not?, price, ur date of purchase, Excimo or Excimo G? color, interior state on a scale of 1 to 10, exterior state on a scale of 1 to 10.

After 400km+ I decided to refill my tank full and do the nubers. My car is Nissan Cefiro A32, with automatic transmission.

408.3 Kms

54.63 Liters

7.47 Km/L

Fuel Type: IOC Extra Premium Petrol. (Petrol shed dude told me that it is 92 Octance, though I doubt it is. Anyway it's only 4 bucks more than usual.)

Running Conditions: Almost entirely rush hour traffic with my self and wife driving with normal driving habits.

What's the engine? 1.5L or 2L ?

I too use the IOC Extra Premium Petrol and i'm able to get about 8Km/l (mostly driven in the night)

cefiro doesn't come in 1.5L, mine is 2L. i am able to get 7.5kmpl in rush hour traffic with careful driving.

Well this was bought about 10 months ago for 1.6mil. I started using this heavily not long ago. (about 5 months back. heavily means throughout the day)

I found 3 of the same kind for 1.5mil - 1.7mil. One has passed the 100000km range too.

What i have is an A33. YOM is 2000, Reg. KD, dash board free of cracks (well the small cabin in the middle of the dashboard right above the A/C panel is chipped abit), mine is the cefiro A33 Singapore model (with the big buffer), color is red. interior scale = 7 , exterior 6.

As soon as i purchased i found only two issues with it.

- Had to replace front shocks

- Had to clean the radiator as there was an unseen leak.

BTW, i still couldn't find out the reason behind my delay start. waiting to visit the mechanic this weekend hopefully.

I found this below URL on fuel efficiency. Hence, sharing it. see if it would help you guys.

Does A33 come with factory built security system? (Anti theft)

When i was having a routing checking on the engine and oil levels this morning, i noticed a 10A fuse for 'Anti Theft' and a loud speaker type horn fixed inside. (right hand side upper corner). Also there is a red light blinking labeled "Security" next to the steering wheel. (i didn't pay much attention on that light till today).

All above findings mean that i have a factory fitted security system in my Cefiro? Coz i wanted to fix a security system (glad that i found this).

Does any of you guys know about this?

Thanks in advance for help.

give it a test. If you have a remote key sit in the seat, with the key out of the ignition hit the lock button on the remote then try opening the doors from the inside. The alarm should go off. To stop the alarm just press the unlock button on the remote. This should work for most cars.

Thanks for the thought Well the thing is that i have only the car key. There are no remotes. only thing i found were those, under the bonnet.

Thats why i assume it had the security lock factory fitted. Does any of you guys know about this?

Reviving an old thread. How would one know weather a car is Singapore or japanese import?

i think condtion of dash board and seats are the minus points of the singapore ones. so if those two boxes are ticked to your satisfaction then don't worry whether itz singapore or jap.
