I too am guilty of the crimes u have mentioned,we have some being wasted away..with not a hope of restoring

but we have always bought the cars first and then worried about restoring, some were bought knowing that they were never gonna be restored...which resulted in most wasting away(...lol..some even have trees growing through them, you have to cut the tree to get the car out  )you have to be somewhat selfish in these matters...just my humble opinion

what sorta cars have you got rotting away? any nice ones?

Machan why dont you post pics of your collection including the rotting ones or alteast list the model and year of the whole collection.

btw,one popluar garage guy in thalakotuwa gardens bought a good Pakcard limo 4-5 years back and its still siting in his garage awaiting restoration!

also David Todd has beautifull triumph Mayflower (sissy name for a car in my view!) and that car is in regular use too!

No no this is how the cars were when this so called 'collector' bought the two 132s. But the thing is this 'collector' is only one step better. He has about 80  cars! And all are in poor shape, with no attempt at restoration taking place. But they still go around buying stuff and adding to their collection. Some of the cars are just covered with a bit of polythene and all are packed almost touching each other like sardines.

Really a sickening sight. :(

off Hokandara?

any Capri's or Escorts??

i'll go there and see this weekend and let u know... i'll try to get some pics too. there was a ford cortina i think but not sure.

a friend of mine bought a escort last week (10 Sri) and going to restore it. had some tinker work to be done and engine is seized. he has another escort which was badly corroded but the engine is good, and hes going to swap the engine to this. its a 1.3 engine and the other one is 1.1 (seized one)

This escort must have been the white one with a blue stripe?

what types (or rather models) of Ford do you like

my dad has had a Ford Prefect E93 (1949-50 Model as his 1st car)

When I was in School I had a major liking towards the Cortina's (esp the Coke bottle model) also long time back was crazy over the Escorts (probably influenced by the ads in the back issues Readers Digest mags at home) but sadly the only Ford I have ever driven is a 2008 Ford Focus which was given by my driving school to go for the driving test here in the UK

"secret" ?! hardly!

a pubilc one if at all! :D

These two sad 132s were found last year. Now they are with another wierdo who just collects and neglects.... They've got that cracking twin cam and five speed under the hood.

Man,

Love this vehicle coz I learned how to drive in one of these. Dad use to have a Fiat Mirafiori 131(mirafirori something). Loved driving this beast. I was too short to look over da S.wheel so I used to look through it. lol. Brings back memories.

Know what you mean fatjoe. My Italian car cherry was plucked in a 131 S owned by an uncle :D . 8 Sri 2121. The car just felt special like none other.

My other relatives had Lancers, Datsuns, Peugeots and one had a brand new Merc 123. And we had a Mazda 808.

But the Fiat just felt so much more special that all those put together. That exhast roar and acceleration is what stuck in my mind. Those padded alcantara seats with funky head rests were not unhelpful either. It's the car that really infected the Italian bug in me.

Btw anyone interested in a 132 2000GLS?? Just found one which seems like "not a major" project. Factory fitted a/c, PS, and power windows and those padded seats again though not alcantara. Needs a full paint as its in primer. It started on one flick though and the 2.0 twim cam sounds healthy. There still are many spares in Panchikawatte and I reckon it won't be a nightmare to get it into the shape below.......
