Tyre Specs...!!!

Hi...!!! :)

This is my first post on the forum, thus I want to say hi to all of you first.............

What I want to know is about tyre specifications for a normal motor car (mine is an FN15 PULSAR CJ1...). I know there is much more than we know or we think about it. One more thing I want to take into notice is the sound coming from tyres while it is on the way. Is there any way to reduce this or do we have to select a specific tyre...?

Hope all of you will help, thanks...!!!

Hi,

The design of treads and the interaction of specific tire types with the roadway surface type produces considerable effect upon sound levels or noise pollution emanating from moving vehicles. These sound intensities increase with higher vehicle speeds.There is a considerable range in acoustical intensities produced depending upon the specific tire tread design and its interaction with the roadway surface type.

If I'm not mistaken. Tyre specification indicated on driver sides door pillar. i guess it's common among most of the brands.

Softer tyres with higher profiles reduce road noise while the inverse increases it. Could you tell us your current rim size, your tyre size and brand ?

On my Yokos, recommended maximum tire pressure is 40psi. Currently I'm running 30psi.

Have seen his theory of;

Optimum tire pressure = maximum recommended tyre pressure - 10%

In my case 40psi - 10% = 36psi

I know it's bit rough on our city roads. But gives you the best fuel economy. Any other pros & cons???? (effect on the shocks & suspension)

I would say that your tyres have enough profile in them to feel comfortable, and not be too bumpy. If they are noisy its due to the harder rubber on the GT's. To be honest unless the tyres are quite worn I would not consider changing just because of tyre noise because SL roads aren't the smoothest and bumpy rocky roads will somewhat minimise your gains ! (as in you won't notice that much of a difference unless you are on smooth carpeted roads)

But make sure that your wheel bearings are also in good order as they tend to cause some running noise as well.
