Nissan Spec V release video

For your 15,750,000 Yen you get the full Nismo Club Sport package, carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon spoiler, grille and brake ducts. Inside the same carbon-like trim seen on the Tokachi Race GT-R makes an appearance while the rear seats have been eliminated. The limited edition color Ultimate Black Opal will be the only one available. Can’t wait to drive this car and see how much better than the standard car it really is. The over-boost function sounds interesting but would like to find out more info on this.

Here is the official Press Release in english.

TOKYO (Jan. 8, 2009) -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a new limited-production Nissan GT-R SpecV model, which goes on sale at seven specially selected Nissan dealers throughout Japan on February 2, 2009. The GT-R SpecV is targeted specifically at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle.

Developed around the multi-dimensional Nissan GT-R sports car, which was introduced just more than one year ago to universal global acclaim, the new SpecV model builds on the original's "ultimate supercar that anyone can enjoy driving anywhere, at anytime" philosophy - taking it to an entirely new level of "oneness between man and machine." The SpecV model includes unique body, interior and performance equipment and modifications, raising the GT-R's unmatched performance to even higher levels.

The GT-R SpecV's new exterior features include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber grille, and carbon fiber brake ducts. The SpecV is available exclusively in Ultimate Black Opal (RP) body color. Inside, the SpecV's unique two-seat interior (non-SpecV GT-R models also include a two-place rear seat) offers special Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats, while carbon fiber insets embellish the rear center storage box, instrument panel and other trim areas.

Performance is enhanced with a new high gear boost control device, which momentarily increases boost of the engine's twin turbochargers for greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges to provide a more powerful feeling of acceleration, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy. Other modifications include a titanium-coated exhaust system and carbon-ceramic brakes that provide powerful stopping performance.

The GT-R SpecV is also equipped with lightweight, racing-style forged aluminum wheels that were developed for this model and have been sold by Nissan Motorsports International (NISMO) since September 2008. The lighter unsprung weight provided by the new wheels, together with the enhanced braking capability, an exclusive suspension and high-grip tires, combine to deliver the SpecV's exceptional performance.

The SpecV will be sold at the following seven dealer outlets, each of which is staffed by mechanics with special GT-R SpecV training and who are knowledgeable of racing circuit driving.

Dealer outlets selling the SpecV

Ibaraki Nissan Sales Co., Ltd. Mito Sennami Outlet

Nissan Prince Tokyo Sales Co., Ltd. Kamedo Outlet

Nissan Prince Nagoya Sales Co., Ltd. Fukiage Outlet

Nissan Prince Osaka Sales Co., Ltd. Horie Kawaguchi Outlet

Nissan Prince Hyogo Sales Co., Ltd. Nada Outlet

Nissan Prince Kagawa Sales Co., Ltd. Takamatsu Outlet

Suggested nationwide retail price (including consumption tax) 15,750,000 yen

looks like carbon fibre has become a fashion accssesory rather than a strong weight saving meterial....you notice even the non-performance intended cars are sporting carbon fibre trim....just so that playboys and mamma's boys can show off their ride's carbon fibre cupholder.....

Nissan GT-R beats the Germans - again!

By Gareth Evans

Prospective buyers of the Nissan GTR have another reason to brag over their German competitors thanks to the latest residual value figures released by CAP Monitor.

After 12 months or 10,000 miles, independent used car valuation data provider CAP Monitor predicts the new GTR will be worth 84% of its new list price. This puts the latest Godzilla incarnation well ahead of rivals from Porsche, Audi and BMW.

CAP forecasts that a Porsche 911 Carrera will cling onto just 68% of its value after the first year of ownership, which may dent the German’s pride just that tiny bit more in light of the battle between Porsche and Nissan at the Nurburgring in 2008.

Buying a BMW M3 or M5 will see up to 40% of the value disappear in the first year, says CAP, while even the brilliant Audi R8 is playing catch-up with Nissan; it retains 73% of the showroom tag after 12 months. - www.carmagazine.co.uk

Hennessey Performance Engineering is claiming to have built the fastest R35 Nissan GT-R in the world - and while it’s April 1, we’re not kidding.

Using its GTR700 upgrade kit (which adds turbos, inter-coolers, blowoff valve and electronic boost controller), Hennessey’s Nissan GT-R produces 725-hp with a maximum torque of 630 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 60 mph run in just 2.8 seconds.

The top speed record was set at the March Texas Mile event where the Hennessey tuned GT-R went from 0 to 193.7 mph in 1mile.

The Hennessey GTR700 can be purchased for $18,500 or $24,500 installed.

Nissan GT-R breaks Ring record

Nissan takes GT-R around the Norschleife and breaks previous 7min 29sec lap record

16th April 2009

Nissan has tried to put to bed the controversy surrounding the GT-R’s Nurburgring lap record by having another crack. And it’s good news for the Japanese – the 2010 model year GT-R, with 478bhp and a modified launch control – beat the previous 7min 29sec time with a 7.27.56.

The car was piloted by Toshio Suzuki, a former stand-in Formula 1 driver, but Nissan still isn’t quite satisfied with the time – ‘although dry, the track surface grip was impaired by dust and sand’. That means another attempt is due in the next few days, with the Corvette ZR-1’s 7.26.40 firmly in Suzuki’s sights.

As well as a smidge extra power, the updated GT-R gets a retuned gearbox, fettled suspension, a larger fuel tank and slightly better fuel economy, although this probably wasn’t too key around the Nordschleife. Stay tuned for more updates as Nissan continues its efforts at the Ring
