Well there IS an article on LBO. Scathingly sarcastic.

We see the reason qualified people should be appoineted to posts rather than political flunkies.

I must offer my heartiest congradulations to those who voted for the Chinthana. Vote for people from the left, they don't seem to be able to find solutions outside their theoretical leftist ideas, which have been tried and FAILED! :angry-smiley-024:

Why do u think the politicians pushed for equal voting rights for everyone? Doesn't mean we should suffer coz some schlub who can barely write his name gets to choose our leaders.

He's not my uncle and wasn't running for the Central Bank post when I voted for him. I was damn suprised to see a economist siding with the left. Shoulda known better. Besides, take a look who controls the finance ministry.

Its a pity that our country once which was taken as an example by Singapore for our rapid growth is been spoilt by cheap politics. The jumbo cabinet, endless curuption is making all worse. I hope a leader will come to lift the country from the current situation soon

The problem is not with the leaders, it is with the people - the same people who elect them and whose views they represent.

Ergo, for the country to change, people would have to change the way they think.

And I can assure that won't happen in our lifetime.

Totally agree with your statement ….. after all our people would vote for a particular “IDIOT” if they were given a lunch packet & a bottle of arrack ….. so we really can’t look forward for a brighter future….

So they say alternative solutions, No rationing etc….. but then again this is the SL Government & this Fowzie who once said that the price would not increase only to go up few days later ….. so U never know…..

It’s the era of Chinthanaya…. Anything goes…..

Well said. The majority of sri lankans still think they can obtain free goods. Some idiot comes along promises everything and our people vote for him. The ordinary sri lankan mentality and their way of thinking has to be changed. I know a few people who are fixed in their ways and believe sri lanka should become a socialist country, and are completely against capitalism. How do they expect sri lanka to achieve economic growth and development? Our president is just trying to be a dictator and is ruining this country. There was only one dictator who made his country into the wonder it is today and thats Lee Kuan Yew.

They will be in office for another few more decades. Once you got the power you can manipulate the law for the way they want and its a care free ride for few more years!!
