Hey guys. I'm not sure if this question is entirely in line with the forum rules, so mods, apologies if it isn't..... but i'd like to know, are there any Places or People in Sri Lanka who Specialize in the maintenance of BMW's?? as in Apart from Pr*st*ge are there any independents who do this? a friend of mine has an eye on an unusual BM, and before taking the plunge, he wants to figure out if he has options apart from the agents.....

Thanks in advance

Yup, search the BMW threads for a Milroy. There should be a phone no and address as well.

Hi there,

Access owner Sumal Perera sold his 8 series about two months back. It is now with Muttiah Mulidaran's bro in Kandy. Is this the car you're talking about? If then no worries as it was anyway maintained by Milroy when it was with Sumal and even now.

I would recommend Milroy more than the agents. Call him on 2913465 or better go meet him directly. He's a very helpful, simple and down to earth chap...

any idea how much that 8 series went for? didnt Ajmal have another - a LHD in RED ?

also is it true that Shamal Perera is getting down a M6 or a 6 series to replace the 845?

I think 4.2 or 4.4 was the asking (for the 8)

but that car comes with too many headaches (costly parts etc)....

Heard there was a E36 328i for sale for 2 mil. Dont know much about the condition tho.... Lovely car nonetheless

I heard the 8 went for about 3/3.5 Mil. Are you sure the 328i is for sale? Last time i saw it was at Milroys. The car looked good... although he said owner is not selling... and it's the only one in the country... champane color...

actually that was how I heard about it....thru Milroys bro when I was there.... they were working on it then and Im quite sure it was for sale because I wanted to swap my 320 for it.

Its not the only 328 in the country btw...theres a yellow E36 and a silver as well. Theres one E46 that I know of too.

I recently saw the champagne 328 @ Odel...looks great compared to what it used to look like.

@ Devinda.... About the price of the 8....heard it from a friend who is a BMW nut so not a 100% sure. Despite the price the car is still not worth owning in SL unless u have $$$ to spend.

on a separate topic....anyone have any local contacts for BMW parts ? Im looking to get a pair of angel eyes. Milroy is asking 40k which is steep compared to GBP 99 on ebay.

true...the M1 is a nice looking car BUT its not a Pure bred BMW...

its creation was pretty much outsourced to Lambo...so i dont think it quite qualfies..

@domnic - didnt know abt the 507 till now  i'm rather ashamed n will confess its quite exquisite

but having looked at it i now wonder how much of the design was influnced by the car of all classic super cars - the Gullwing 300SL

note the "gills" under the front A pillar....identical to the SL né....given the SL hit the market in 1954 or a few yrs before , BMW had enough time to get ideas from it n throw em into what is no doubt a good looking car, by 1956

errm..... no. if i remember me BM's correctly, Lambo was given the job originally but due to their(Lambo's) financial issues, BMW Motorsport took over full control of the project (Hence the M1).....

"Originally, BMW commissioned Lamborghini to work out the details of the car's chassis, assemble prototypes and manufacture the vehicles, but Lamborghini's financial position meant that BMW reassumed control over the project in April 1978, after seven prototypes were built. Only 456 production M1s were built.[1]"

From the Wiki..

If I'm not mistaken the 507 was designed by a dude called Count Albrecht Geotz. He the guy who also designed the gorgeous Datsun 240Z and the Toyota 2000GT!

Those gills came back on the horrid looking Z3!
