The letters describe what kind of damage it is..the numbers indicate how severe/bad the damage is....

A: Is a scratch with 1 means a light damage and as the number goes higher the severity of the scratch gets worst

U: Is a dent.

W: Wavy, which pretty much means the the paints shows some orange peel or the body shows certain signs of panel beating and tinkering work.

X: Panel is damaged beyond repair and needs replacement

XX: Panel has been replaced.

Y: damage to front or rear lights.

C- Rust

X/G: chip on the windscreen

Where the numbers are concerned..lower the number lesser the damage. thus as the number goes higher that means the intensity/severity of the damage increases.

What about the G: stone chip in the windows?

Well...depends on the number of the G....but for the most part, if the vehicle has a chip in the windscreen or a serious crack on it...the G value will be high and the car's Auction Grade significantly goes down as per Japanese regulation any vehicle with a crack or significant chip on the windshield means the car is NOT roadworthy. The same applies for certain other glasses as well.

Like R grade noh? however my dealer said that we dont have to worry about G type of damage since the auction grade of the car is 4 or 4.5
