Advice for selling a "non market" car?

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy an Audi A3 so in order to do so I have to sell my 2000 VW Bora. I'll list out the details below.

00' VW Bora  -

Mileage - 198,000km

Drivetrain - 2 Litre + Manual 5 speed.

Condition - Cosmetically ok (being a 19 year old car it has some scratches and dents here and there, nothing major), Mechanically great.

Bought the car for 1.6 million and spent around 370k on repairs because I was planning on keeping it for a while however being a manual and me driving it mostly in traffic is not great hence the decision to get a newer car. Mechanically there is nothing wrong, as I got the car I made sure everything was sorted out before driving it. I even have a spare engine (With 40k) ready to be swapped in.

What is the current market for this car? I know it's going to be a bit difficult to sell.

What can I do to make selling it easier?

Post it on facebook ###### and keep advertising in other places too. If that too becomes difficult, try to sell off for parts/parts exchange like @Devinda_Z mentioned. I'm in the same position as you except I have a 50cc moped without any documents :0, might trade it off for parts once it dies.

Uhumm...I am pretty sure @Devinda_Z did not imply he strip the Bora for parts and exchange the parts :D

He meant part exchange as in give it as a trade-in for another car (i.e. other car price = Bora price + money)

That awkward moment when you know what Part exchange is but then end up implying parts exchange?

thanks iRage!?

well recently there was escort that was dismantled fully and he made money buy selling few parts like the bonnet etc. some parts are still there.

And being a manual the price will be less any way.

So a parts exchange/sale is still viable! But it will take alot of time & patience. Trading in or offering it to a sale is also possible as I've seen some weird unsellable cars sit there for a while (ck2 riced beyond recognition, isuzus, an old faded-paint peugeot 206, protons are some examples I've seen)..but you will never get the price you may expect (if getting rid is your priority then that won't matter)
