Allion 2007

Given the vintage pay more attention to maintenance history and condition other than options. If you can find agent maintained genuine first owner car it's the best bet. Options differ with grades and dealer options and you should know that most of such things are probably fitted in SL rather than from the factory. As I know all of them get eco mode but not sure about auto head lamps. Most basic variant doesn't have climate control, push start nor illumination meters. Our maka basses can swap them anyways so finding a genuine one is more important.

AFAIK almost all of the Allions have Eco mode and Auto headlights. Just like the @hrm pointed out, finding a trustworthy  example is a bit hard to come by. I was also looking for a 2007 Allion by the end of last year and had no luck finding one, so ended up with a 2013 model. But sometimes good cars with all service records pop up on sale. So be patient and start hunting carefully. Here, don’t consider the mileage, colour, grade or engine capacity as a sticking point. My advice is; it better to go for a car with all the service records which had done 150,000kms than going for a car with 60,000kms and no service history.

So does it mean buying an unregistered Vitz is a better option than going for the old used allion? Under a 4.1M budget

Buying an unregistered Vitz does not mean you are going to have a clean and honest car (because it is unregistered or mileage says 0). A lot of car sales in SL and their Sri Lankan agents in Japan just buy junk cars (crashed or high mileage examples because they are the cheapest) in Japan and fix them up (including resetting mileages) and sell them off as new vehicles.

A SL used Allion or an Unregistered Vitz...due diligence is key...get it professionally checked out.

For a used car in SL, yes service records help, especially if they are from a reputed source. People have gotten in to the habit of getting fake records from random garages as well. So..yeah...
