Compounding car paint

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

Im going to apply the clear coat myself, after compounding the newly appied solid white car paint.

Reason is... I couldnt apply the clear coat at same run when i was applying solid paint.

The procedure im going to follow is...

1st wet sand the base coat by 2500 / 3000 grt , then compounding/ buff (witthout wax), wash with britol  , finally appy the clear coat.

Is this OK ??

Let me know some understanding on

Paint buff machines, pads, compound types/ gauges... etc. I need to buy.

Thanks.

It seems you dont need to buff before apply clear coat. Watch this video from 17:58 seconds to get answer for your question.

Also here are the information from local dealer/product. Read the relevant pages for clear coat of them.

Thank you for your knowledge on my problem  ? got updated with manuals n vedios .

The reason of buffing is, to leveling, shining , removing dust n etc,... before the clear coat.

That is because of...

i was unable to apply basecoat n clear coat on same day...

already 3days pased with basecoat ...

and i have no professional skills in spray painting.

Thats why some friend advised me to do a compounding step, before the clear coat.

So, is it ok..... for my case ??
