Honda civic fd4 gearbox issue

Hi recently bought a fd4. With maintain records from Stafford. 126000kms. Have an issue almost everday in the morning. When try reverse there is a delay. Some times like a jump. I changed the atf oil last week but not much improvement. Any suggestions. How much does it cost for a gearbox brand new and recon.

Hi and wel.come  to AL.

Sorry to hear of your prob,

Complete gearboxes are not service items.  Changing ATF as a last resort will not do. . seen similar cases here. . Try a transmission  system flush from a speciacialist. There's a slight possibility that it might help. and use Honda ATF.

p.s.Hope the t belt kit has been changed at 100k.

TT.

had a similar issue in my FD 4 at the very same mileage. stafford could not diagnose any issue since this came time to time.

Best case, Atf is old and is too thin.
Worst case your reverse clutch pack is worn out. It's better get a repair done than to buy a recon gearbox. Try changing the Atf first.

Only satisfied answer is change gear oil manual. It mean remove sump , clean atf filter etc. if after problem exist need to replace or repair gear box, gear box repair should done from expert. you may work that bcus problem is in initial stage
