Advice on First Service - Toyota Vitz

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a Toyota vitz 2018, right now the mileage is around 1300Km. I brought this under SBT warranty. Going through forums I hear various opinions on when/how to do the first service.

Therefore appreciate if you guys can help me out on the following concerns I have,

  1. Which mileage should I do the first service?
  2. Should I go with SBT since it is under warranty or should I go with Toyota Lanka?
  3. What is the best SBT partner station to get the service done around Panadura
  4. Since this is a petrol vehicle does the warranty have a value?

Thanx in Advance

Anton

Your first three questions should be answered in your warranty documents. Please read them or ask your dealer. If you have a 'mudalali' warranty, you should ensure that all conditions stated in the warranty are followed. Otherwise, your mudalali might not honour his warranty.

as for question no. 4, I will personally not buy a vehicle with a mudalali warranty. The only warranty that has any value is manufacturer's warranty, irrespective of whether its petrol, diesel or lampu thel.

Thanx for the Comment.

Does anyone have any experience with SBT? For Sterlin they have their own service stations, But for SBT I think they have outsourced it to a number of entities.

Was wondering would it be worth to keep the SBT warranty (By doing the services with them) or go with Toyota Lanka.

If you want to keep the warranty i suggest you follow the instructions of the card you got. I got a car with Autocom warranty and it clearly says to service the car at Laugxx at the first 1000kms or the warranty wont be valid. I wanted to service it at the agents instead of what the warranty card stated. So i ended up servicing it at the agents and recently i had a premature failure of some bushes and they refused to honor the warranty. Personally i would rather maintain the vehicle at the agents than mess it up at some other place, but you might want to keep the warranty which came with the car. Up to you :)

Normally for peace of mind servicing it after the break in period is good (~1000-1500kms on the odo form 0).
