When seatbelts are not installed . . .

cecald

Question

Hello, and please pardon any ignorance on my part.

I've been searching for a vehicle to buy, particularly one of the many older jeeps I've seen.  I'm searching for one that I can buckle 2 kid car seats into (so a bench back seat is a requirement of mine), but many of these vehicles do not seem to have seatbelts installed.  Does anyone have any ideas as to how much a seatbelt installation would run?  More importantly - does anyone have a recommended shop who would do this the right way (ie: ensuring the mounting points were secure, or reinforce as necessary)?

I live in Colombo 05 if that helps, thanks everyone!

It's not that difficult, a skilled mechanic can simply mount them, just 3 points

You 'll have to resort to used seat belts off car parts shops or else pay premium to get sets off agents.

Matter of fabrication of brackets thereafter. Depending on what your vehicle is

A simple seat belt requires mounting to the frame of the car using a approx 14mm bolt where the thread is usually welded or tapped into a bracket of sufficient strength in the 3 usual points.

The bolt secured to the B pillar of the car will require a small brace securing the pillar side by side and the thread right at the centre of the brace where the loop is attached for the belt to run. The clip or the locking attachment is attached medially usually but find with enough clearance to the hinge of the seat.
