Buying my first car budget around 3.4mil

yuran

Question

Guys,

I'm looking to buy my first car. I've been searching for few months.

Following features are prefered
1. Sedan/Saloon body type
2. Not a hybrid
3. Good fuel consumption (atleast 10kmpl in city, 14kmpl outstation)
4. Easy to maintain
5. Manual transmission ( even auto is ok)

So far Civic fd4 2007 model caught my eyes.

Could guys help me out little bit with some suggestions. And some pointers to look for when buying?

Honda FD4 is a good choice. Check the Mitsubishi Lancer EX out as well - I saw a black manual transmission one advertised for 3.6mil on the "quick" website. You could be able to negotiate if it's still available.

Toyota 141 2008 is within your budget too

Recommend the same suggested by the above posters - FD4 is a great car and Lancer EX will be a similar experience. But 10 KMPL in city is impossible specially with the FD4. :D

Is it worthwhile to dump 3.6 mil on a manual car? My suggestion is to look for a auto car in these price range.

Apart from the melting dashboard issue and an AC compressor issue (Which is common among many Toyotas) There are no common issues afaik. The Lancer would do better on fuel though

ok.. finally i narrowed down my choices to following

Civic FD4 2007/2008

Toyota 141 2008

Axio 2007

Any know issues with these cars??

Fuel consumption which is better?

Any thoughts on civic fd3 2008/2009 (fact that its an old hybrid scares me)

P.S.

Lancer looks gr8 bt most of them are modified ones. Not a fan of that

I'm using one since 2013. If you are getting a 2008/2009 YOM one, make sure the hybrid battery usable capacity is above at least 40%. You can get this checked at Stafford.

These cars are great if you drive a lot of miles per month but don't get a FD3 if you mostly do city driving. In that case FD4/FD1 would be the better choice. FD3 would do around 17-20kmpl long distance, 20-24kmpl highway but only around 9-12kmpl in Colombo heavy traffic.

Have you find your one?

What you think about corolla manual 121?

PS: I'm using it in Colombo.
