Starting problems

Question

The battery magic eye is green.But none of the functions ie starting lights horn are working.what could be the problem

Thanks for the help.Issue resolved.The battery was completely dead cos a cabbin light has been on for almost two days!

if no electrical components works, then it should be a very small problem (problem related to main fuse, connectivity).

if you are going to troubleshoot this. first measure the voltage between battery terminals (close to 12V, probably 12+).

if it is OK check the main fuse.

if it is OK check the voltage in between battery positive terminal and any metal part  which is not painted in the chassis (it should be almost same reading you got for two battery terminals voltage).

switch multi-meter to  "check resistance (check connectivity mode)" and check the connectivity in between negative terminal and the same chassis part that you did measure in the previous  step (it should show very low resistance).

do these steps first and update.

I was told by a battery shop owner, this magic eye displays mostly the cell voltage of the closet cell (of the eye located). Therefore, you can't always rely on that. Did you try jump starting ?

Thank you for your comment.The Browns power Mart guy told me that if there no power on the dash board and if the horn is also dead probably the main fuse must have gone !
