How to recognize a Genuine G grade & Normal -AXIO HYBRID 2015/16/17

Hello every one,

I am just wondering how to recognize a true G grade and  a Normal Grade of TOYOTA AXIO HYBRID 2015,2016,2017,2018

I have heard that many sellers/Importers bring down the Normal Grade Axios and convert them to higher grade (mostly G grade) .

( Of cause you always can compare the options  but this can be very easily modified)

Heard this is common for Premio and Allions too.

a.) Can we recognize by the chassis number series or any other number?

Thank you!

The the complete model code (not the chassis number but the model type) should be DAA-NKE165-AEXEB for a HYBRID G. The WxB should be DAA-NKE165-AEXEB(X). If its a gasoline G then the code should be NRE161-AEXEB. For the Gasoline WxBit would be NRE161-AEXEB(X)

Safety Seance C pkg, Climate Control AC, Rear wiper etc? Those will probably be little complicate / expensive to fit to a basic car.

You can't go by the Safety Sense Package anymore....the entire line up has Safety Sense C as standard option. The rear wiper is an optional accessory so there could be G grades without it. As for climate control AC..well there are limited packages that sometimes offer these as additional features in lower grades.

Apart from these facts Afaik G grade has original factory fitted alloys, interior comes in beige and front grill has a chrome appearance. But still these things can be changed.

doesnt the G Grade has a stiched steering wheel?

I think this goes back to the OP's original concern. All these things can easily be installed. On top of that some of the other grades could have been special ordered (or offered as limited time packages) from the dealers in Japan when purchasing the car new.

So how do you know if the Axio was originally an actual G grade car when it came out of the factory ?

Toyota makes it easy because they assign a frame/model code for the car and grade. DAA-NKE165-AEXEB for a HYBRID G. The WxB should be DAA-NKE165-AEXEB(X). If its a gasoline G then the code should be NRE161-AEXEB. For the Gasoline WxB it would be NRE161-AEXEB(X). So CVT equipped G grades get the designation "AEXEB", with a manual transmission it is AEMEB.

A few other manufacturers follow the same format whilst manufacturers like Nissan don't.

Only G grades have a remote key, the rest have ignition keys, so that's the easiest way to spot the difference. The next is the A/C control garnish; the G grade has a faux CF weave deal going on under a shiny translucent plastic (same for the gear level surround), which the regular grade does not have. And then there's the steering wheel (now this *might* be replaced by the importer, because they used to do it on JDM 141s), which does not have the controls for the radio on the left spoke.

Alloys are optional. Mine didn't come with alloys, heated seats (useless anyway) nor LED headlights, but it's got everything else.
