Import Volkswagen Golf GTI

Hi experts,

 Please advice me how can I import a Volkswagen Golf GTI to Sri Lanka. Recondition made year 2014 or later should be ok. Let me know is there any agency or importer which i can contact. Also, if you guys hv any idea about a rough price for that car pls let me know too.

What is the Engine capacity of the intended Golf model ?

There are a few famous car shops around that import Euro vehicles and high-end Japanese cars. There is one along Isipathana Mw. plus another one or two around Kohuwela that you might want to check out.

If you are feeling adventurous you can do it yourself

2.0L gasoline customs duty is around 11 million. So the total cost would be around 14-15 million.

GTi is 2.0 L will be expensive due to tax, most probably cost over Rs. 10 Mn.

GTE is 1.4 L hybrid has similar power will be significantly cheaper due to small engine and being a hybrid (low tax), however driving feel may be different to the GTi though

Thanks @kush @Prangi @gNaveendra for the suggestion. Yes, 10mil + would be too much.  I didn't hv an idea about GTE is 1.4 L hybrid. I only knows about e-Golf which is full electric right?

Btw, any suggestion or dealer for getting  a quotation before hand for GTE 1.4 L hybrid?

I have seen couple of ads in Sunday paper (H** A*) may be you could contact them, considering you are going to spend decent sum of money think about after sales service and maintenance etc.

I dont think you can import older  vehicles before 2014 Aug to Sri Lanka now. (3 Years)

Excise Duty on Capacity (CC) only comes to Rs: 11,904,000/- (6000x1984) or  225% , without other Taxes/levies. Correct me, if wrong.

May be which figure is minimum.

Customs code : 8703.32    ( for 2017 which is called as RK edition)
