Converting Manual to Auto gear

ProD

Question

Hi All,

I would like to discuss on the topic "converting vehicle transmission from manual to automatic".

Idea of this is mainly because, nowadays most of the manual transmission cars are lot cheaper than the auto. So if anybody is willing to buy a manual for a cheaper price and convert it to a auto he will find a price advantage??

If we can discuss the pros and cons of the transformation, good mechanics who have done it successfully and hands on experiences; it would be interesting!!!

What do you say??

I have done a small research on the topic on Google and found; Australia, Canada and England, they are doing this conversion. But I could not find any information related to Sri Lanka. But many of us has different ideas about the topic and most of the time people are fooled by "MAKABAS" and ended up being spending hell lot of money.

So is this possible?

This is a question that is asked every year in auto lanka since its beginning.

It can be done but at the end of the day, it will cost you much more than buying an auto gear version of the same car. Some have converted vehicles like evos, subarus and integras just because they are enthusiasts. For an average guy who is looking for 'price advantage' it is NOT cost effective.
