While on the Hunting for a Hiace Super GL meet lot's of versions of this model came during 1997-2003. Is there any topic for Hiace models? i'm referring to LH 113/LH119/LH172

Got to known that LH119 is the 4WD version but it doesn't have option to switch to 4WD. Guess this one is Drinking lot of fuel Just for Hiring purpose this one is not suit. Other's are standard once with different trim levels. Most of these machines are done more than 300K now.

Question are

which model is best for use in terms of economical?

How to check the condition of Auto box ?

How economical are these ?

and any other models for around 4.2 M Budget ?

Thanks ....

Economy is not a strength of the 3L engine

Our owners drive auto boxes till they are nearly dead and then change ATF

if you're looking for economy, well look elsewhere.( duel a/c on full and a 2 tonne van with a slush box will never be as efficient  as a Starlet.

There's no way to "" check the gear box " what can you expect after 300K of hard use?

You can get a general idea by looking at the ATF  ( Color , Level etccherry red  and  no burnt smell.) and driving it and seeing if the gears change

The model you're refering to  is the full time 4WD. model. and there  is a selectable  4WD model and the 2WD which is sort after;

Economical in the seance? It's not economical like maintaining a lite-ace. and the way you look after it. for an example, if you are doing a service with good stuff (VIC filters, Good oil - Castrol/ Mobil,) it will cost you around Rs 15,000 (not at toyota lanka) and you can run 5000 - 6000 kms. they are very reliable vans if you take a good care of it :)

LH 113 - with 2L / 3L engine.
LH119 - fill time auto with the 3L engine.
LH172 - with the 5L engine.
LH100/ KZH100 - Original passenger vans with 2L/ 3L/ 1KZ engines.

Whats the OK KMPL for you?
if you are happy with around 7-8 in city and 10-11 in highway or without traffic, that's the real figures you get from a Hiace. you'll get a bit more from a manual. but not a huge difference.

How to check the condition of Auto box?
Get a good mechanic to check, no issues if they are properly maintained. Mine has run 260K+ and 20+ years old. haven't done any repairs yet. Did the oil changes around 20,000 Kms intervals with Toyota oil and not with the machine.

How economical are these ? see above

and any other models for around 4.2 M Budget ?
Caravan? if you like it, that's also a very reliable machine.
