Hi guys im using viva elite now more than 3 years.

I have installed cabin filter to the AC. How often we need to replace this ?

Also does AC need a service? What are the things usually do during AC services ? (cooler cleaning ?)

Replacing the cabin filter depend on your usage and condition of the cabin filter.

Usually I drive 12000-15000km per year. I usually change cabin filter at every 10,000km or once in a year depending on the condition of the cabin filter.

Mean wile you can clean it when required,

Thanks Sampath. I also drive 12000-150000 per year and will plan to replace annually or 10000km

by the way does the AC need any service. Usually unimo check the AC gas during the vehicle service intervals. But for AC does it need a specific service ?

If you go to a specialised Auto A/C technician,

He will check the present A/C pressure and checking by hand whether conpressor functions properly

Then he will release the refrigerant R134 from the line

Remove the evaporator (cooler) and clean ot with water. Renew o-rings

Clean the condensor (like radiator) by water to remove dirt

Clean the blower fan and replace cabin air filter

Then he will add new compressor lubricant (synthetic)

Then he will connect a vacuum pump to empty the lines

Then he will test any leaks by Connecting with Nitrogen gas cylinder

Then he will refill new refrigrant gas

Run the A/C and check whether it cools properly with sufficient cold temperature from cooling vents

My Viva Elite  AC compressor got busted. workshop quoted me 22000 for a reconditioned Japanese one and brand new unbranded Malaysian compressor 26000. Please advice me on deciding between brand new one and recon one.

That's too expensive for a recon unit, you can get one from a normal ac repair place for arround 10-14k

Not on my Viva Elite but I have used Frostaire on 87' Corolla DX wagon and I was very happy with the service and I was their when they diagnosed. This was like 8 years and hope they still have the same good techs.

Thanks guys, I went a place called SAS AC front of the Boralesgamuwa Cemetry, they charged 5.5K to fix a leak in the o-rings and added refrigerant and oil + a cleanup.

Another place in Dehiwela said the evaporator is leaking and quoted 40K for the whole thing,
