Flood Vs Spot Light (Led)

Nishan.dj

Question

Hi,

What would you suggest for a reverse light kit as in "Flood" or "Spot"? I am comparing LED lights (around 18-27W types) & Anyone who has fixed those as reverse lights please post if they are flood or spot type ones. Thanks a lot in advance.

I would go for the “flood” beam pattern if it is for reverse lights. No point in being able to see far back (spot pattern) if you are going to go hit something close by when reversing eh? :D

I`ve got a couple of 18W LED driving lights in my Discovery. Something similar would work well as reverse lights as well:

Another option would be a 12v LED work light, a single 27W light like this would do the job: http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/9629680/27W_Square_LED_Work_Lamp_Off_road_atv_lights_12v_24v_auto_work_light_led.html

Good answer. Thanks MrCat. Any place you suggest to buy it locally? Or else online other than ebay and diytrade? Did you get those from diytrade?

Hi MrCat

I am thinking of buying a pair of 27W LED spot lights to fix to the front of my 4DR5. Do you have any idea about how much will it tax for getting down from eBay? :)

I found a place closer to Kohuwala that has such items and they quoted me Rs.40000 for the exact item. :speechless-smiley-003::speechless-smiley-004: I don't know they keep higher margins or it is because of any taxes that has to pay to the custom.

Sorry machan, I don’t have a clue about the tax structure over there. Someone else with better knowledge might answer. I can’t imagine there would be much tax on a 12v Lamp since 240v LED household globes can be had for less than 1000 bucks. I mean, a 12v LED work light won’t be classified as motor car spares right?

40,000 is insane though, at the end of the day they are all made in a Chinese factory (the stuff I bought over here as well), so perhaps you should check in an electronics/electrical joint in Pettah who bring stuff over from China?

Sometimes it all depends on the mood of the custom officer. However it could be held in custom due to the weight but not because of any other aspect. May be buying 2 single units may bring both to home without any matter. ;)

40,000 is insane.

Of course. Those who have lesser idea about the actual pricing could be trapped easily to that amount.
