wow i thought i am the only one who found the fb14 unreliable.

we used our uncles 1997 fb14 red light for months back in 2005. that too was having problem after problem. had overheating problems and oil leaks and suspensions problems

I too suggest a good Honda Civic EG8 or a Mazda butterfly light model.

out of all the vehicles EG8 looks the best.even the door handles looks funky on the EG8 :-)

again no.

the Presea is basically the same car as the b14 with a different body, same engine and drivetrain and other bits

and its kinda heavy on fuel, and if the car hasnt been looked after properly it will give water leakes because of the pillarless doors (encounterd one)

if you want more bells and whistles and it has to be nissan ill suggest something like a u13 or a u14 bluebird still wont be economical as a bhalp or a ae100/at192

also i would suggest a at190 corona. can get one under 1.3M and its a really nice car with all the options Uditha88 mentioned on the presea. and more economical than the presea

I have a U13 and its not that easy to find parts, you get parts but you have to look around a bit. Plus i dont think the gasoline version would be economical at all :P

EG8s are also an option, but not easy to hunt down a good condition one for a this price range, specially a vtec model. By reading above posts, i think given the age/mileage of these cars, all these models need similar repairs done.

Is it possible to find a good EG8 for 1.4million? :D :D

The one i used was a good one & was not a head q for me.it a Manual one with ABS

when i got clocked 182000 km

Replaced all lower arm bushes

Replaced Brake Pads\calipers

After two months had to replace clutch plates & due to some manufacture faults on product i used had to take out them after two days.

sort out easily.

after few months starts to heat.found out it was relay which connecting to fans just 500/-

Did a fully EFI tune up. it worked perfectly. out put was really good.

sold @ 198000km

not a single oil leaks.

no sensor faults.

no electrical issues.

A\C was perfect.

every electrical part functioned well.

super interior. not a single damage.paint was bit faded.

Still worrying.93e1.jpg

Thats a good condition FB14, but sadly not all FB14's are like that. 8 out of 10 maybe bad apples. I came across many such examples when I was hunting for a car, almost all of the FB14's I checked had some kind of a problem, finally had to abandon that idea.

For the OP I suggest that you go for an AE100 or AT192, solid cars those, you wont be disappointed if you manage to get hold of a good condition car.

cant say fb14 is bullet proof but our family car is one old steady and reliable girl since 95 and still is and the old girl just keeps going..my father is so engrossed with it that he wouldnt even think for a split second on replacing. true we had replaced most running parts any car that has been running for the last 19 years would need to do so. i also suppose it boils down to who has been using it previously since we got it back in 95 its been with the family and taken care of it as part of the family. My dad used it from inception and to date, i used it for my weekend and late night runs until i got one of my own so did my brother after me and now its used between my younger brother and my dad.

Yes. AE100 will be the best option. But to me it looks bit oldish. and in few years time it'll be more. Can you guys tell about Tercel , corsa. If any of you have experience using them, they may not good as corolla. but comparatively we can have a newer model like 96 98 for the same price range. what are the issues of them to make there prices lower than corolla range. I've heard that tercel is made out of japan.

You need to undertand that its not the 'issues' that dictate the price of a car. Tercels are cars positioned for a lower market segmnt thn corollas. Its like comparing maruti 800 and maruti alto.

Tercels were made in japan

Dear bro plz don't but the fb14...Have no issues with other 3 cars..better if you can go for the mazda butterfly i have owned one before, very reliable, it's sporty, light weight, handles well and has real good performance....I don't know about others but fb14 was the worst car i ever had...frame is bulletproof but every single weekend you'll be in a garage....I cant remember a day i drove it without an issue remaining...

Ha haa.. Looks like i'm not the only one. Here comes my list of repairs done on my FB14.

Complete overhaul in suspension (Shocks, Arms, CV Joints etc.)

Repaired two oil leaks in two different occasions in the engine oil sump

Replaced Alternater

Replaced Distributor

Repaired the auto gearbox as it failed to shift to the second gear.

Replaced the A/C console as it failed functioning (My one had a touch panel)

Major repairs in the braking system. replaced brake disks due to thinning, had some brake binding issues as well.

Replaced ignition plug wires

Complete overhaul in the exhaust system due to excessive corrosion.

Replaced engine mounts.phew.. and the list goes on..

and at the time i was selling there was a auto gear oil leak from the sump. the damn engine kept on vibrating at start up, cooling system was falling apart and the ECU was kaput !!

All of this happened during 2005-2009. so, just imagine the number of issues current owners of these cars might be having. :)

I can remember exactly 3 days before i was going to sell the car i replaced the gearbox mount with a genuine one for the 3rd time...the god damn thing again failed exactly when the buyer came and try to put it in reverse the whole car shaked....

From the sound of it it could be the other mounts that were putting too much strain on the gearbox mount. I bet your other mounts were broken too :)

We can compare apples with apples. In your case, I see sedans hatches and wagons.

If you are ok with any body style, toyota corolla wagon known locally as elephant back model should meet all these criteria. Most of them are not full option but there is a full option version of it.

Personally I prefer the butterfly/laser over any of these but thats just me.

If i were you i'd avoid the panda and maybe the k11. The 'elephant back' corolla wagon crosswind mentioned is a solid and reliable car - two of my close relatives are using this and one of them has been putting it through unimaginable forms of abuse for over a decade and it still keeps running well.

i dont think you could find a Wingroad Y11 for 1.3M but if you do. its not a Sedan but it will have your Best full option car requirement

It will be hard to find a Elephant back Best full option car for that price though.

The AT192 carina is a good choise as well
