There is a VAN - Toyota HiAce Diesel converted. 5L engine. Short model Owner is asking 2.35M. but need to replace all 4 tyres, and there are some interior carpeting also. is it worth for that price? will they any engine troubles may occur in future due to the conversion?

For your last question, go to Bambalapitiya, get to Galle Road through DIckman's Road, turn left, go about 100m and turn left near the shops that sell flowers and garlands. Meet this person (Click here). They will be able to tell you the answer

Did you ever stop to think about how we can give you "expert advise" on trouble you might have with a van that we have never seen, inspected or driven, based on only it's price, and the fact that the tyres are bad??

We're not soothsayers!! Go to wellawatte for that!!

Now if you give us a little more RELEVANT details of the vehicle, maybe photos even, we might be able to help you. So untwist your knickers, Dorothy. This ain't Kansas.

Hi Dahaya,

in my opinion you may have to think twice if you are planing to go for a diesel converted hi ace.i don't trust diesel conversions much.only thing that i know about 5L Toyota engine is,its a bit thirsty compared to the 3L engine.I had a toyota hiace LH113 model for more than 10 years with a 3L engine and it was fantastic motor i've always loved with better power.Hope this would help you.....

Since its an engine that DID come on this model, the conversion itself might not be the primary concern. But there's a lot of other aspects of a vehicle besides just the engine. So you should take a trusted and knowledgeable friend/mechanic to see the vehicle.

And don't get upset or cry that you're not getting all the information you want... You can't come here with just the price-tag of the vehicle and expect 'expert' advice. When you family doctor says that there's an irregularity in your heart-beat and you should get an specialist-expert opinion, you don't just call a cardiologist and say "doctor my heard rate is 88bpm.. what's wrong with me?" right? same principle.

Dude, i have driven two diesel converted vehicles. One was running like a charm, the other was running like a lorry. Both were having 3C-T engines. A saasthara kaaraya or an idiot would give a yes or no answer for your question. An expert wouldn't. Because no one here knows how the conversion was done. What was the condition of the engine etc.

U went to see the vehicle, right? Did u o a test run? as crosswind mentioned, there wont be any issues if the conversion has been done correct way. Following is my 2 cents.

Price - 2.3 is very very cheap even for a converted. So, there can be some hidden surprises. (you cannot get a good 3L 250- even for that price)

What I see from the Pics.

  • Those side mirrors are from 2 models
  • The rear door and tail lights, Headlights and shell are replaced with super custom parts (Not an issue at all)
  • to me, the vehicle looks like its neglected and doesn't get the attention from the current owner

I have a cousin who has a Hiace with 5L and he says its really good on fuel. Actually quite a lot of people converted from 3L to 5L. Both 5L and 3L are only good with manual tranny,

By DID watchman meant the actual word did... not Direct Injection Diesel.

+1 checked the documents from RMV as well. this is a very cheap price for a Hiace with a english number even if ita converted one. if youre not an expert, just do a visit with some one who expert in these kind of vehicles as there can be something similar cut & paste and hidden.

How much would be a original diesel 5L cost roughly?

LOL my bad! :P

Any particular reason for that? since most of the SuperGLs with 5L engines are AT.

The ones with AT have really really bad acceleration or rather picking up speed but still it has got enough pulling power
