Bought A Micro Kyron, What Next?

Mdpperera

Question

HI All,

Last week I bought a Micro Kyron 2008 (KH series) SUV and it did only 29,800KMs. I saw all the service records and meter reading is correct. I noticed following issues and please help me to fix those

Door Armrest covers have some cracks (how to fix)

On steering wheel, right side tiptronic button is not working, Seems someone put glue in it (how to check and fix)

Two fuses have been removed, remote lock sound is not coming and no light flash when lock/unlock (How to fix the fuses)

Previous owner said I have to change some oil after 30000KM and he said only company does that part. (Any idea about this oil and what is it call?)

Also I would like to know any best place to get Cut and Polish for this new ride, Guys Any suggestion?

How about your experience with Asian Alliance Insurance and with MBSL Insurance? (for the moment they are the cheapest, For 38 laks - 55K annual pay for full cover)

Anyhow Kyron is a really nice handy SUV and has enough space for a big family. Good power and very comfortable drive (IF you want to go for this model, please try to find a low mileage SUV if not u will have lot of work to be done.

Thanks

MDP

Congrats on the purchase.

Please go through the below search result to get an idea of your vehicle

https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=site%3Aautolanka.com+kyron&oq=site%3Aautolanka.com+kyron&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.8717j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8

Most of your issues sound like model specific stuff. So you're better off getting the agent to settle everything for you cos the parts would be model specific. You might as well get the agent to dot he cut and polish.

Congratulations on your purchase and enjoy your new ride! I second Watchman's suggestion to go with the Agent to resolve those issues as it seems to be the most reliable approach (although it might cost a tad bit more).

I would suggest you pump only Super Diesel into this vehicle. From what I know, the engine on 2008 Kyron requires 50ppm sulfer Diesel. Can someone please confirm this?

As for insurance, I went with SLI on my previous car and the current. On my previous I had two large claims ( 1lakh and~3lakhs ) and got them both without a hitch.

Congratulations with your purchase. I have good experiences with Saangyong (so-far) though to history of the comments in Auto-lanka does not sound good. I used Superdiesel throughout.

One place in Pannipitiya is calling them as SSangyong Specialists. Though i have not been there, you may try out this place for minor repairs and services.

Please get the drive belt checked as my brother had a very bad experience with the sudden breakage of the drive belt. Get the filters of the vacuum modulator changed at every service.

I am using a Korando for 1 yr 8 months.....

Does your Korando has a DPF? I'm 90% sure that my vehicle has it but when I asked from the sales guy at Ideal when taking the delivery he said it's only for euro models. Also did you recieve conditions of warranty from the agents? The guy promised to email me the conditions of warranty but even after several reminders still no any action.

Did you face any problems with the vehicle so far and any thing else that I should know about?

Don't be an a$$hole and take this thread OT when there a thread dedicated to the Korando. It's no longer "slightly OT".

errmmm... do all these faults come in a Kyron that ONLY done 28k on clock???? to be honest this can't be right

from the read it seems the previous owner hasn't driven more than 10km everyday o.O

Hey Muditha420, Most of the issues are model specific, but I shud say you will hardly get this (kinda luxury) kind of driving experiencing for this price. Yeah previous owner was a Dr and he did not drive much.

Thank you @Ramishkad @jaga @Watchman @crosswind and @UdayaP, I have to check this Pannipitiya SSangyong Specialists place.

I really need to get a Cut and polish + clean the Engine area (just dusty) So I went to automiraj and they asked Rs 5500 :sad-smiley-058::speechless-smiley-019: for Cut& Polish, Apply shiny Gel on outside plastic parts+ Engine area cleanup and then I contacted kleen park for windscreen cut (cus there are some bad dust marks on all the mirrors, cudnt clean with water) and they said it will be around 14000 for all 8 mirrors :speechless-smiley-004::speechless-smiley-003:

Do you guys know any other cheaper option for Cut/Polish + Engine area clean + windscreen cut? Please help.

Also I pumped Xtramile diesel (NOT super) is it ok for Kyron?

By engine area cleaning did you mean doing an engine wash? I don't think you need to do engine wash on these newer vehicles. It can cause some sensors to go bonkers so do the research first if you really must do it.

Honestly you might want to get all the electrics and stuff sorted out before focusing on where to wash/polish the vehicle.

And how bad could the glasses be? Maybe you could share a photo? There are lots of glass polishing liquids and compounds you can buy and use yourself. Search the forum (or the internet) for reviews. It will save you some money, but you'll have to put in your own labour.

MdPerera,

Congratulations on your purchase.

One of the issues with this model is there aren't a lot of importers who import spares for it, particularly trim items, and as they are not popular in Japan you don't really get that many used parts either. So you will have to somewhat get used to dealing with the agents on a lot of issues. There used to be a company called korean spare parts so see if you can find their contact details using the directory.

I am supprised by the number of issues you've found on such a low mileage vehicle so do take the vehicle to be inspected properly by the agents.

Hey ramishkad, I mean Engine compartment, Just outside area cus it looks little dusty. And engine has no prob, smooth and very powerful.

@Watchman and @Don Thank you for the advice. Re: Mirrors/screens I do not think I can show that in a picture cus its just look normal, but in the night you see lil blurness (just like looking at blur picture)

Anyhow I managed to fixed following things

Door Armrest covers have some cracks (Went to Nawala Cushion center and they said they can do it, but lil expensive so wanna find another place, Also found out this is a common issue in any Kyron) :sleeping-smiley-001:

On steering wheel, right side tiptronic button is not working, Seems someone put glue in it (STILL no solution) :sad-smiley-066:

Two fuses have been removed, remote lock sound is not coming and no light flash when lock/unlock (Fixed, now hazard lights blink when u press remote key lock) :sport-smiley-003:

Previous owner said I have to change some oil after 30000KM and he said only company does that part. (This call ATF oil and for any Micro model (Kyron too) you have to take ur vehicle to Agent cus no one knows about this Oil type or brand (still a secret) So I have to take my Kyron to Agent) :sad-smiley-066:

Also I would like to know any best place to get Cut and Polish for this new ride, Guys Any suggestion? (Found a guy in Kiribathgoda who does Interior/and outside cut polish just for 11K and few ppl recommend this guy. But Still I have to find a windscreen cutting/polishing place. :sad-smiley-068:

Guy I am trying to find Kyron service manual. Any idea?

Cheerz

Congratulation on your purchase.

If you were unable to find user manuals yet, I have uploaded it (both Mechanical land Wiring Manuals) to 4Shard and this is the direct links for the PDFs.

If anyone has later versions than this please share.

I normally do my service from “advancedcardiagnostics ” at Pannipitiya and it is a good place in terms of car care and chargers. http://www.advancedcardiagnostics.com/ (Amal- 077 762 6500)

I used the vehicle for 4 years.. bought brand new and was reading about 65000km when it was sold.. No issues except there was a vibration upon sudden acceleration.. Tried to fix it but never lucky.. And as I remember there's no sound when locking or unlocking but signals do flash. Take her to the Micro service station in Kiribathgoda. That's the best thing to do I think.. My one did good in tyre wear, and maintenance cost, but fuel consumption was not good. Handy vehicle though

yes most german vehicles have central locking systems operated by a vacuum pump.so unlike Jap cars, they do not make a central locking sound which comes from moving solenoids.

Just another comfort feature..even our 13year Audi does not make a sound, but if you listen carefully you can hear the vaccum pump working at the back and also obviously locks pins moving.

and I think ssangyong was based on Benz vehicles.
