New Tyres

yrangana

Question

Guys, I have a Suzuki Swift Jeep model car,

The tyre size in the door panel is 165/70 R 14,

However previous owner has put 175/70 R 14 GTs for front and 175/70 R 14 Ceat for rear.

now Im going to replace front ones with 165/70 R 14,

1. will it be a problem to car (having 175 and 165 rear and front) ?

2. which brand of tyre is optimum economical wise and for long run ? (GT/CEAT/Chinees etc... )

Thanks in advance ....

Since size diffrence is marginal i guess it will not matter.

I would recommend that you keep the half worn tyres in front as it will give much safer handling in a front drive car.

Also they will wear out fast so that you could replace them identical ones.

I believe in Sri Lanka Goodyear Dura plus tyres offer excellent value for money. They give you good mileage and the price isn't that high. But if you can't stretch to that GT, Nankang, Kumho Solus, Maxxis are all good tyres.

The downside of the dura-plus is that they seem to use a very hard compound in order to achieve the long treadlife they have. So grip is not that great and the ride can be fairly harsh
