Yes you can import a YOM 2004 vehicle, as long its a hearse, backhoe loader, excavater etc.

@Crosswind I see, i was thinking more of a SUV. I guess that's not possible. Are you a fan of Fords? Noticed your profile picture.

I own a Ford. Not a fan per se... but I've grown to like it...

Getting down a YOM 2004 SUV isn't possible if you follow *legal* channels. There are ways to get things done in this country, but I don't think a public forum is a place to ask those questions.

Just for humour sake (and no disrespect intended for the dearly departed)...you can convert a SUV to be a hearse :)

for example a LandCruiser 70 series hearse: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.620919711260593.1073741828.247226845296550&type=1

or a Land Rover hearse : http://foleysv.com/land-rover-conversions/land-rover-hearse

I hope I didn't give food for thought to some sneaky people wanting to import a cheap old car and stick a new number plate :)

@Crosswind What's the Ford you own? Haha I know what you mean, but I prefer legal methods so that I can have peaceful sleep at night :)

No need to worry, because hearses will be issued LZ- number plates and will be stopped at every junction by cops if an SUV carries one of those plates.

Get your facts straight. One year limit is for permit cars.

Last time I checked it was one year regardless...at least according to the official I spoke to at Import and export control. I was inquiring about regulations on normal imports.

Actually I was talking to a car dealer/broker and he told me that he could import a 2007/2008 Allion. I asked about the import rules and the guy just told me that "There is a way for everything you know". I don't know the authenticity of this but I sure have seen 2008 Allions with KJ and KG plates

That sounds perfectly normal, whats your point?

edit: why do you want to import a 2007/08 Allion? You can get them things for quite cheap now

Oops My bad ;) I was talking about the 2004 Allion. What's up with me and numbers LOL.

Anyways the guy told me that he can import a 2004 model one right now dirt cheap. Didn't go for it coz it's not really my cup of tea
