Project Capri

Hoonigan

Question

Hi all,

So I've been trying to find a Capri for some time now but haven't really been very successful.

I'm trying to do a resto-mod and I have a few very specific things I want to do to it. So an abandoned car that needs body work, paint, interior work etc fits the bill perfectly. I don't really care if it's running or not either.

The few I found were recently restored or 'modified' and asking prices were a bit on the high side and I would anyway have to roll back some of the work already done on them and this would make me overshoot my budget by a mile.

Basically, I'm looking for a Ford Capri (preferably MK1) in shabby condition for around 3-500K (not set in stone, maybe a bit more depending on the condition) If any of you gents know about one close to what I've mentioned above, please be kind enough to drop me a PM. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Capris are some of the most sought after cars these days dude. If I remember properly, Ramzi Ahmed's capri (probably the best restored one in the country) went for around 2.7 Million. And the moment someone gets a line on an abandoned capri, the classic hunters and brokers dive in on it like vultures!

There was a half-restored one which I came across a few months back with an asking price of 1 Mill. It won't be easy to find one, but best of luck anyway. If I come across one, will definitely drop u a line.

Thank you crosswind, I'm following up on every lead I can find.

i remember seeing one in another car sale site for a fair price,if i fish it out will send you a PM

Please do let me know. It's always a possibility that I may have missed one, although I have been stalking many of the usual suspect sites.

there's a 2 door 510 for sale...

I'm quite hellbent on a Capri mate. I've had this in mind for a long time but finally got around to set up the cash and dive in.

PS- If we are thinking about the same 510, it's white and seems to be in good shape. Asking for 410,000 if memory serves.

Few months back I saw a Capry in a garage. As I remember its 11sri two door one. Car is not in a running condition and also not in a too bad condition and need to be done few tinkering jobs and paint job. All interior parts need to replace. The garage guy asked 4.5laks for the car. But now I don't know whether car is available or not. If you interesting i can go and check it.

If its a 11-sri. it could even be a MkIII. Kinda rare in Sri Lanka. What does is look like?

MkI?

at OP failing to find a capri how about getting an Escort Mk1 and restoring it as you can find good unmolested ones easily or if your more adventurous how about an 4 Sri Ford Anglia (Yankee) ?I dont suggest the Cortina for you as they rust a lot even though they are lovely cars

I absolutely love the Escort 2 door. The anglia isn't really my cup of tea. But I had the Capri in my head for quite a while. Problem is I couldn't have picked a worse time to hit the market. But the Capri is the car I want, Unless I find an old Z which is damn near Unicorn balls now.

a Z recently went up on sale. i think it exchanged hands tho

Damn that's a lucky break. I absolutely adore the Z. But given my location and lack connectivity, it's near impossible to snatch up a car like that cos when they go up for sale, they don't stay there for long. Even the Capri is proving to be a stretch at the moment sadly.

Guys, just a quick update. I managed to pick one up but close to double what I expected to pay for the base car. Sadly, the previous owner riced the f*** out of it so I have my work cut out.

Thank you guys for helping me out. Wish me luck! :)

Machanla it's a complete disgrace as it is. I will throw some pics up as soon as it starts to look like a Capri (including the rice bowl pics).

I'm not too keen on starting a thread as I fear it might be sitting stale for a long time.

Komi's Teg build with him breathing down the neck of the garage and Ethanol based incentives (I thought doctors advise against them :D ) is an indication how long this will take to shape up. We'll see how it goes.
