A soup'd up looking version of the GR Yaris has been spotted on the Nurb. ring last week.

Speculation is that it is a GRMN GR Yaris, so a limited edition high"er" performance variant. People are expecting it to have about 340hp (as opposed to the stock 275hp in JPN 268 in other markets).

Again the power output is pure speculation based on the fact that in Japan HKS has been testing out and tuning up the GR Yaris which they have managed to put out 340hp. Earlier on they claimed they managed to increase the power figures simply by increasing boost but never indicated what the power figures were.

Looks like Toyota is onto a winner. Just need to make sure they don't overprice it. It's going to fight the likes of Fiesta's and the Renault Twingo's with more power.

340 hp in that thing? Wow! Must be dead cool: Talk about a 'hot hatchback'!  But do they have some kind of torque vectoring system to keep all that FF torque steer in check?

*also damn it ! This is why Nissan is getting left in the dust: They have virtually nothing even close to this do they?

The RZ High Performance comes to about  4.9mil yen with registration (so with financing it is about 5.3mil yen after 5 years of interest). RZ variant (without the intercooler spray and LSD) is about 4.5mil yen. The RC....which is a stripped out variant for race teams (so has all the stuff from the High Performance variant except for the fancy TV and stereo, stuff) comes in at about 3.9mil.

They also have the CVT variant which has the 1.5L engine is about 2.6mil (so drive away price would be close to 3mil). But so far they have not sold any of that according to my local GR Garage.

It is an AWD car with a active torque splitting system...60:40 in normal mode. 30:70 in sport mode and 50:50 in track mode. Takes a nit of getting used to driving slow in town...there is torque right across the rev range and with the strange sound it was quite difficult to figure out the shift points at the beginning. It begs to be driven hard and when you do push it..it just goes (assuming you find the gear to actually start off in). Also, it comes with iMT...which is a pain in the ass if you can drive a manual...
