Post Whoring - Part 2

Our rebadging kings can also learn a lesson here :P

We could never get fed up with the Chinese way of doing most serious things, especially since most of them looks so amusing to some western folks.

Recently, a Chinese man was pulled over by police in Fuzhou, in the Fujian province of the Middle Kingdom.

So far, nothing out of the ordinary, expect maybe for the fact that the “Mercedes-Benz” he was driving before being pulled over wasn't sporting any license plates.

Not only that, but his car wasn't actually a Mercedes-Benz, as the multitude of three-pointed star badges on the car would suggest, but a BYD F6 modified to look like a Mercedes-Benz.

Apparently, the man was fined 1,700 yuan (approximately $280) for not sporting a license plate and illegally retrofitting his car, which was also impounded and his driver's license confiscated.

Later on, he confessed of deliberately modifying his Honda Accord-based BYD F6 to look like a Mercedes-Benz in order to give himself a sense of superiority in front of his relatives and neighbors.

Normally, reporting about a copycat car in China would be like saying that the water is wet, but this is the first time we hear of a story that ends like this.

And a Photo of the said Car:

Holy... are those side mirrors from a motor bike? i seriously doubt that the driver actually see what he suppose to see in those mirrors... :o

haha! Some people's taste really amaze me.

I saw this "modified" Ford Escort for sale. It had maruti headlights, a FB15 front grill, and bumpers from some other unidentifiable vehicle. The only good thing was that it was selling for just a 100,000. So if someone wants to start a restoration project, the initian investment would be very reasonable.
