What the Prius is this? :sad-smiley-017:

Saw this some time back near Thalawathugoda. Is this some other car with a slapped on Prius logotype?

Thanks Nexus, Supra. So this is the start of all Priuses: Grandfather Prius.

there's another grandpa prius in kirula road. my brother knew the owner. he had bought it from toyota lanka when it was launched back in the day. one owner car since then. over 350,000km. battery is still fine. says it did 38kmpl then. and no around 37.5. this is based on his own calculations. he has maintained the numbers over the years in a spreadsheet. just to see how good it is.

then owner has already saved 20,000 liters. if the average petrol price per liter is 100Rs over the period , then he has already saved 2 mil.

Not bad , ha.

he had those figures too. i was very impressed. his reckoning was more accurate, and yes, it was something like that. was funny to see someone so into a prius, and yet quiet about it. and it was made back when cars were built to last. and what do you know... it does!

toyota completely botched that marketing plan. sadly. they weren't helped by a tax cut either. but on the flip side, the 350% tax was imposed much later.

its also a testament ot the first gen prius battery lasting in our hot humid conditions for as long as it has.
