I don't know what you exactly mean by its "usage", but...the primary (JDM) grades were:

S

S Touring Selection

G

G Touring Selection

Then the above grades came with dealer/special packages on top of it:

so you got

S/G Touring Selection PREMIUM

S Standard Package

G Touring Selection Leather Package

10 year anniversary package.

<Obviously some of these packages would have been only available during certain years and not in others...>

The above was mainly for the private-vehicle line-up. The commercial vehicle (taxi/fleet) line up had I believe only the base grades, but really not sure...and

from 2009 to 2010/2011 the second gen was limited to commercial sales and was there only in "EX" grade.

The third generation kept the same grade line up but added the L and then the LED packages, and some seasonal packages.

Also, the Prii brought over from Japan have the display readout in Japanese. This is a pain since the display information is an important part of driving the Prius.

There's no easy simple way to change it from Japanese to English by pressing button. If you want the display in English you'll have to take it to someone who can go into the dash and do the conversion. Of course, the Prii brought over from the U.K already displays everything in English.

Also, the only significant reliability issue for the 2nd gen Prius was the inverter water pump could start failing prematurely. It's easy to check the condition of the IWP and relatively inexpensive and easy to replace it (it's behind the front bumper). Toyota fixed the issue for the 08 and 09 Prius so that's something to keep in mind.

That's something you'll have to do your own research on and compile from different sources/websites. But start here: http://priuschat.com/threads/2g-prius-2004-2009-standard-and-optional-equipment-some-countries.37636/
