Why not! It is Carlton after all. However it is good news for those having high capacity bikes. I know of a pending case in which a 400cc bike registered as 250cc (before 400cc rule)was taken to courts. Only issue seems to be the alleged falsifying of the engine number not the capacity.

OMG, bad news for Police cops. :sad-smiley-034:

Look on the bright side, now the Police will be given better bikes than those Indian bikes. The Suzuki GSXR's that were bought for the SAARC summit were the last batch of high powered bikes that the Police got (except for the ones on duty on the highway).

Again like the lambo issue this is simply making a joke of the laws of the land.

How the F#%k can you simply say vehicles imported illegally at "vivida awastha" (various instances) can be registered with no legal consequences for the criminal offence the importer committed..

And associating Carlton to it doesnt make it fishy at all

Apologies for my ignorance for obvious reasons, but links does Carlton have with the government?

Just to clarify a few points ..

Here we are making comments based on the contents of a new paper article so certain things may not be that precisely expressed. All the vehicles imported under the broad definition of "various circumstances" may not be illegal. One can get the prior approval of the import & export controller and temporarily import a bike without being taxed after producing sufficient justification. Then you are supposed to re-export the item within a given time frame. The question here is how ethical and prudent it is to go back on the original approval and allow them to be registered even after paying taxes. This will set a bad precedence on the Custom procedures. Then there are high capacity bikes imported as spares, assembled here and registered as 250cc. What happens to them remains to be seen but I know of a pending court case on such bike. I will keep the forum updated on the outcome but it will take ages.

Now thats interesting scene. Anyway even with a 1000cc , escaping through our traffic is not much different with a 250cc. again, its the riders skills.

Well, the network never officially AFAIK stated who the 'owners' are, its a public secret that it's owned by the royal family. And the 'head' of channel is the 2nd prince's GF.

This isnt the first time CSN's suckled on the tits of the government... There's been pleanty of examples in the past..
