Worst Customer Experience At E*ti*lat

carbuddy

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Here i am posting one of the worst customer experience i faced today. I think customer service in Sri Lanka is a crap. (All of you may agree). I do not think even the responsible authorities dose not care about this very much.

here is my experience which may useful for some.

I wanted to buy a 3G wireless router after a search and few calls to Customer Care center i found that E*ti*lat has a affordable one. Call center guys said that i can go to a service center where they have Parking and etc. So I went there and try to go to "So called car park."

The Car park gate was closed. After few minuts security guy came asked the reason. I said i want to by a Device from E*ti*lat . Then he directly said First read this card then some other card and so on.. come in only after you read this. Then we (me & my friend) feel like it better to park out side.

Then some how we went in. After that i said i wanted to buy this particular device and i wanted to go for Instalment plan. When i talk about instalment plan they were bit confused. I said them that i called to customer service and they said i can go for instalment plan. After that i was able to get the device and came back to office.

Humm Then after few minutes they call me and said that they have given me a device with a fault. I was bit surprised because i am the one who remove the packing. So no body else should not know about the device. when i inform about this (packing thing) they said anyway to check the device can you to the service center again. So have to go there again.

After i went there story was different. They said Sir we want to get more money from me inorder to settle instalment plan. So i have to call Card Center and do other stuff. Then i came back without the instalment plan to save Time and Money (because of calls to Card Center)

Please be aware of these kind of people.

Thank you.

There is not a single company is SL that can claim to have good customer service. They hire monkeys after plying them with peanuts, give them next to nothing training and throw them out to merrily drag down the company.

Not just Etisalat, every Telecom company in SL have very bad to atrocious customer service. You can never hang up the phone or leave their premises feeling that you were served well.

Sometimes you get a better service from bloody threewheelers... :)

Don't forget the bloody banks, especially Standard Chartered bank.

I can vouch for standard charted bank having the worst service i had a current account there which i closed due to the incompetence of their staff.

Not to forget dialog they hire jackasses for cheap pay.

I had two mfcrks from SCb come over to my house and get all aggro when I was not at home.... My mom and dad dragged them to the cops and they had to send their corporate ambulance chasers to save their butts and had to apologize to my parents... ;)

It is a pity of the service dished out by some private banks. The only time I've ever got good service from a bank was when I knew somebody there or when I was a school kid and went to the Bank of Ceylon branch where my school held an account with significant funds to cash a cheque. Somehow I have a number of good customer stories to tell from my school days, even from the RMV. Perhaps they took pity on the school kid, or it is in our culture to be nice to kids, or they had kids who went to our school. Whatever is the reason, stuff got done, quickly and efficiently and without bribes and I was happily on my way.

The problem is that they sometimes outsource & hire cheap buggers to do their work. Anyway they deserved what they got from your parents

Some of the banks are hilarious. One refused to let me cash in a western union transfer unless I gave a reason as to why I am receiving funds from out of the country. It does not make much sense to be worried about inward transfers. I told the retard I wanted to start a travelling circus and we had to put our present clown down because he was a drunk c*nt so I needed money to buy a new slave to work as a clown.

My usual replies to stupid questions from customer service people are usually vulgar and down right insulting though.

try calling Airtel customer care :sport-smiley-004: :sport-smiley-004: :sport-smiley-004:

Lol got a call from them while I was sleeping a week ago asking me when I'm going to pay my bill because it's late even though I usually over pay my bills every month and just forgot about this. I told the chick I would pay it if she promises to blow me and just hung up.

Isn't it funny that seemingly everybody seems to be in a decision making capacity in a bank. I mean it takes me about 1/2 minimum to withdraw money from my NRFC or deposit money to my NRFC at my bank in SL (private bank) which requires multiple forms to be filled approved by multiple people and finally the cash is received after waiting in a queue at a counter. And the manager was surprised when I asked to close my account and withdraw all funds.

Members,

I write under because this what I have experienced with our Telecommunication service providers.

(1) Airtel.

I had similar service problem from AIRTEL I bought post paid Sim from them some time back it did not work in my residence unless I go up to the third floor. Informed them about the problem.

After several telephone calls three Technicians arrived with a lap top and did a signal strength test. They informed me low signals due to surrounded Concrete buildings.

At the same time they contacted, their transmission department their conversation too proved with them their result was unable to connect due to low signals at the ground floor.

I send them a registered letter with the result informed to me by their signal testing party and I have instructed them to disconnect my line, at the same time I informed their office by a telephone call I got that officers name time and the date recorded.

I wanted to disconnect the line but they did not disconnect for four months I was getting bills with only the monthly rental. Their lawyer send me a letter of demand. Ignored same. So far no action taken. Nearly two years.

(2) S L T.

Sometime back SLT sold CDMA phone to me that too had the same problem calls dropping unable to establish a call due to low signal strength at ground floor. Within three days of purchasing CDMA phone I returned same to the Teleshop Liberty plaza where I bought same.

With lot of hesitation by the manager to take back the unit. I informed him if you do not take back the instrument I will be complaining first to Consumer protection authority.

As the CDMA UNIT DO NOT SERVE MY REQUIREMENT I AM NOT SATISFIED TO THEIR SERVICE OF CDMA. Then he contacted few other senior officers over the telephone and took back my unit.

At the same time I got a copy of my complain letter signed by the above Teleshop manager with all facts for returning the instrument.

After three years of my regular complains to their authorities SLT credited my money which I paid for said returned CDMA unit to a another land line bill.

They were compelled to do same because I had all call times recorded.

TEST ROOM WHEN THEY CONTACTED ME FOR MY COMPLAIN TO TEST THE PROBLEM WHAT I HAVE THE CALL ORIGINATED BY A OFFICER IN TEST ROOM DROPPED. I IMMEDIATELY RANG ON MY LAND LINE TO THAT OFFICER AND REQUESTED HIS COMMENTS.

I always get the officers name before I answer their questions and from what section they call me record the time and date.

He informed me that the system there is some problem.

Sylvi Wijesinghe.

Funny enough RMV customer service is amazing. I had to collect my number plates from the Gampaha kachcheriya. Colombo office said that it might be destroyed due to the previous owner not picking them up one year ago, I called anyway and was pleasantly surprised when teh guy ion the other told me to hold the line and few minutes later, Mahaththayage welaawa hondai, badu thiyenawa, adama enna.

Went there and this guy was really nice, did the paper work and voila!

the wankers from private banks can learn a few things from them. Even the State Mortgage Bank that I have a mortgage with has amazing customer service. they never let a queue get longer than 10 people... even the seniors starts manning the counters when that happens,. especially on the lay week all loans are due.

If I was the OP, I would have tested to see if the device worked, and if it DID, i would have saved myself the trip of going there.

And secondly, if the company made an error in the amount due, they cant charge you more after the deal is closed. Again you have the right to just walk out of there which you already bought.. what's the worst they can do? Not give you the connection? fine, you sell off the the device and cover your costs.

At times it helps to think on your feet than cry over spilt milk..

It does not make much sense to be worried about inward transfers.

Yes, it does nowadays due to increased awareness of money laundering and CBSL wanting to wash their hands off the matter. The problem with our banks is that they do not usually inform their staff of a threshold limit on which to begin inquiry as to the source of the inward remittance (i.e.; inquiring about anything below USD 5000 is pointless as you can carry that money in to the country anyway).

That's cos there is no decision making going on at any bank. In your case, I'd blame the local financial system rather than the bank itself (although the bank shares some of the blame if they cannot understand the rules).

You would be surprised to hear that I spent half an hour to write down all serial numbers of 50 sterling pound notes on a paper when I wanted to deposit them in my NRFC account at BOC- peradeniya branch.

I think some of the state banks got their act together due to nearly going bankrupt. I think it is often based on individuals involved as well. For example I've not had too many issues with Government offices like the Education Department in getting stuff sorted. Perhaps I was lucky enough to bump into people with half a brain and gave a shit!

Surprised, no, horrified, yes :) The easiest way to deposit into a BOC NRFC is to transfer money into one of their holding accounts in British banks.

My father had to take government circulars and gazettes to banks when trying to help his clients with foreign exchange related transaction issues and educate the bank managers to get things resolved. And these include all the premier banks in the country.

Members,

Have any complains with Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC.

I do operate my and my family accounts with them I have not had any problems once only a lethargic lady officer delayed a approval of my vehicle lease.

When i complained to the Manager, they gave me the delivery order in 4 hours as it was pending for more than 10 days.

AIRTEL

Worst customer service. You can't get hold of a customer service representative for more than 5 minutes. Auto tunes and all the rubbish getting activated through sms and I have to pay Rs. 30 every time when it get activates. After that I searched on web how to cancel it, no information so had to call customer support and no body answered for more than 5minutes. WORST COMPANY.

DON'T BY AIRTEL CONNECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanted to withdraw 9 lakhs from Rajagiriya branch from my account. Had to wait around 15 minutes in the sofa, cashier called and said they don't have money and can you go to Borella? I said WTF, I can't go through all this traffic. Then manager discussed with him and gave the money.

Sampath BANK - online banking

Worst online system ever, has to change password every 3month. Now not using any of their services, all moved to Commercial Bank

Out of curiousity, how does one cash a cheque drawn on a different bank over the counter?

We live in a funny country,

I had to get personal with the SLT manager and threaten legal actions to get the 25GB limit removed on my *UNLIMITED* ADSL connection. Yes you read it correct, the limit on the unlimited package.

and a friend of mine said that SLT has called one school kid and threatened that they'll send a report to home stating that he watches porn if he did not agree to transfer his old unlimited adsl line to a new limited one :)

But surprisingly governmental places seems better. When I called the TRC, the guy was very helpful to sort out my connection and when I goto DS office for anything I get my things done pretty quickly.
