W123 Carburetor

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Im having trouble with my W123carburetor, the car just stalled and i had no option other than to get a mechanic from a garage nearby, he said the diaframe needle is getting stuck or something, i am lost on this, does anyone know a reliable Mercedes mechanic i could get it checked with?

I've heard a technician by the name of Sanjeewa, any knows a contact ?

Thanks in advance.

dayarathna passed away a few months ago, and his son is running the show.. he doesnt take much interest in the old cars as he is swamped with the latest models.

his work is excellent but will have to keep the car a couple of days to get something done.

Try to find a carb specialist who knows what they are doing. Sadly I cannot recommend anyone who does it on a commercial scale. As it is a Merc you can order any part brand new from the agents (At an huge price for sure). If you can isolate the exact part inside the carb that is faulty you might be able to order just that, which might not be that big a cost.

As mentioned Dayaratne's son isn't very keen on older cars. I once took my SEC there with a "miss" thought to be from the mechanical fuel injection system, and he suggested a diesel conversion! Naturally that was my last visit.

The other option is if you have friends or contacts in the middle east, where these cars still run daily, you might be able to locate new old stock carbs. We got a brand new fuel distributor for the SEC this way. And it wasn't expensive. Good luck.

Hi,,

Thanks i still couldnt take the car to Dayaratne's place. but as you say if he isnt that keen which many people say i rather try that guy "carbburetor Banda" I once got my Honday EF2 Dual carb done by him, he too is a bit expensive but i guess the job worked on the honda.

Thanks guys for the help. I do have some friends in Dubai, i'll have them check it out too.

Dayarathna is still alive. Dont try to put to rest people who are still running strong :P . I know a lot of people who still take their W123's to get serviced by them. Its not like they would care less for older models.

Take your car to Senaka ofMotor Tech Kandana nera Kandana Railyway Station. He is a Merc specialist and he maintains my W115 and W202. Surely you will be happy with his services and charges are very reasonable.

Marco Fu(ked my dads Merc. Dont take your car there.

Sanjeewa I heard that he is around pepiliyana, (Anderson Rd) and he is concentrating 210 and after,

MACRO - used to be good, not any longer.

Also, be very cautious with a guy in Thalawatugoda.

Best would be Dayarathna eventhough its a pain or mini ace's recomendation.

D*MO offering special discount fro all spares ordered before 31st Dec too.

Good luck
