4 X 4 Oil Change

sam01

Question

Hi

I got a l200 4x4, I am planning on doing a oil change, is it necessary to change the oil filter every 5000km or is it every 10000km?.

The vehicle has done about 55000km and is it necessary to change the diffferential oil?.

Thanks

if your oil change is at 5k mark, you should ideally change the oil filter at that mark too. some change at 3k and change the filter too at 3k. diesel engine oil tends to get mucked up very fast and given the fact the motor is running far higher compression than a petrol...it's always advisable to change the oil filter with oil changes.

Short answer is...yes...you gotta change the oil filter at 5k. cheap insurance.

As for the diff oil, i'd change that too. pretty easy and cheap to do too.

oil and oil filter, also air filter if you traveling on dirt roads quite frequently if not every 10 k for it..my service manual says check levels every 24k for differentials but dont speak about replacing but when you do inspect im sure you will be able to decide whether it needs replacing or not
