Debuted in the U.S at the 2011 LA Auto Show just 2 months ago, the 2013 Mazda CX-5 has not been for sale until the Spring of 2012 and already won its first award.

Today, Mazda announced that its all-new CX-5 had been named 2012 Crossover of the Year by Autobytel.

The all-new 2013 Mazda CX-5 is the first Mazda vehicle to receive all SKYACTIV components, which include direct-injection engine, highly efficient MT and AT transmission, body and chassis.

The 2013 Mazda CX-5′s body is comprised of 61 percent high-tensile steel, creating a lighter, stronger body with superior handling. The all-new CX-5 also is the first vehicle ever to utilize 1,800MPa ultra-high tensile steel in manufacturing.

Equipped with the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-Liter gasoline engine along with all-new 4-2-1 exhaust system, the 2013 Mazda CX-5 delivers 155 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 150 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm.

According to Mazda, the 2013 CX-5 has a best-in-class fuel economy. When equipped with SKYACTIV-MT (MT transmission), the 2013 FWD CX-5 has estimated fuel economy rated at 26 city/33 highway mpg. When equipped with the SKYACTIV-Drive (AT transmission), it has estimated fuel economy rated at 26 city/32 highway mpg.
