Buying Tires Through Ebay

Recommended Posts

One of my friend wants to get down 4 tires from eBay which he says cannot find the tire size in Sri Lanka. Do you have any experience in getting down tires with eBay? any duties/taxes involved?

Thanks

Was in a similar predicament sometime back. But since its a rubber product you get whacked with about 60% tax. Also, you cannot import used tyres.

whats the tyre size your refering to youd be surprised at how resourcefull the forum members are when it comes to sourcing out...Like how rangerover explained tax is going to be heavy.

Ebay?forget it,the taxes will be through the roof...there are other means though.I got down a very rare set of 19 inchers for the TC and set of white walled 15" recently, put it in a container box along with the belongings of relative who was migrating back to SL..no tax no nothing. :D

If you need to import don't use a courier service( DHL, UPS) , if you used a courier service the item will be detained at the cargo company's customs, use a postal service combined with Sri Lanka's postal service(Royal Mail UK) then it will come to Postal customs, it's easier to get it released.... and if you deal it well, tax also will also be low...

we bought a set for our rx-7 recently ( about 3 months back) from PRINCE tires opposite the sugathadasa stadium

that was Thailand made Bridgstone, and one tire cost us around 14,000
