fuel consumption is something which highly depends on the driver, so it s all about your driving style

just have a look

if you are thinking of a car with a good pulling power go for swift................

but i dont think you will be able to buy a good quality swift beetle for 2 million, but i may be wrong

Yes brother there is a car in our office for immediate sale and it is fully loaded. I think it is worth for 2million. But i want to know about the petrol consumption of this before i go for it. because I’m tired with a huge 1.5cc car. I’m expecting from my new car at least 11-12km in city as I used it to travel 30 to 40 km per day.

If its a 2004 swift beetle japan model and if in good condition, 2m is a very good offer. go for it. All though it will do a little less kmpl than the passo, the swift is better in many ways.

Better you go for swift because I experienced the rattling noise of passo's steering rack and i hate it. I have driven a swift and its very smooth. Fuel wise passo is better. It does 10-11 km/Lt for short distance.(1300 cc )

FC is the case go for a passo. swift will do 9 to 10 in city and 12 to 14 in long distance. but anyway it depend on driving style

i get better figures from my swift. city- 11-12 kmpl, long distance- 16-18 kmpl.

Hi Guys,

I’m back again. I’m in a big trouble now. I went to see the above swift car and it is in good condition form the appearance.

This was introduced to me by a close friend of mine. Now he is asking me to not buy this Suzuki Beetle 2004 series since it has a common problem in alternator and starter motor and it needs to be changed regularly. He has advised by Ar…n Motors technical guy and he has been advised to buy 2005 or latest model of the series since those models doesn’t have this issue.

The above units have been changed regularly by Ar…n Motors in this car & now I doubt whether this is their technical knowledge issue or anything else.

Please advise me any one who is using this Suzuki Beetle 2004 series and whether this has the above issue and it can be solved or not

Or please send me a contact no of a Suzuki Beetle 2004 specialist, since I can take advice from that person.

My mail address is : [email protected]

Waiting for your kind advices.

dude I've never heard about such an issue with any swift model. It must be an isolated situation. But better get the whole electrical system and other systems inspected by a good electrician and a mechanic to clear any doubts.

To be honest, I haven't heard of this particular issue. Also if this is a common issue the chances are your car would have already experienced this issue and a previous user would have resolved it.

The most important thing to verify is if this car is made in Japan or Made in India because 2m is a bit on the low side for this car. Also have the car thoroughly inspected by a specialist, and even A*W will do this for a fee. If the car is in good condition I don't see why you should not go for it!

100% agree with The Don. 2004 Swift Japanese model goes for 2.3m and above. If the car is made in Japan and is in good condition you shouldn't miss this chance. While not an big issue, its a good thing to have a look at the papers, verify if its the Original book and the previous number of owners etc.

Don,

I fired a couple of calls to sellers who have advertised on Lahi*ita this Sunday. And every one is giving fairy tale fuel figures. 14 to 15 KM per liter which is toatly unacceptable since my uncle is using a 2008 model & as per him he gets 8 to 9KM max.

One person even called me today morning to ask whether I'm gonna come to have a look at his car. Intial asking price was 2.3 Mil & now he quotes 2.1 Mil while he being the third owner. The beetle model is not good on fuel compared to the Jeep model Swift.

Yes this is a Japanese swift and no doubt about that. The thing is it was parked in the car park for few weeks and the battery is almost died.

We’ve started car using a jumper and it was started. After that it was make some noise. I think that is something wrong with the belts. My friend says that was the issue and he has been tightup the belts and did some repairs few times and it’ll get loosen after fed days and battery is not charging properly. So I guess something wrong with the alternator or with belts.

Can you please tell me a good place or good mechanic to solve these issues if I buy this car?

Anyway I’m not recommending Ar****n Motors or M**-**ty for mechanical repairs, because they are wasting our money as I experienced.

Well fuel efficiency depends on a lot of factors which include driving style and condition of various electronic components such as o2 sensors etc which tend to be largely ignored in the so called tune ups. In my car which is a 1500cc Mitsubishi I get about 9 even with spouts of driving like a man man because on most other times I adopt a very relaxed driving style. I could probably push it higher if did that all the time.

My family does have a Jeep model Swift but I am not sure what the fuel consumption is like because nobody is yet to test it. I do hear however that the so called Beetle model Swift does hand a lot better particularly in higher speeds and is really quite a good car.

When purchasing a car always purchase on the condition of a particular example rather than perceived opinions of others and unless you are an expert with vehicles never buy a vehicle which is not in 100% condition as you might find any financial savings you make will quickly get wiped by the cost of repairs to put things right. So don't base your decision purely on price.

Sounds like the car Gayan is interested in is a rather neglected example and I would personally stay away. Cars that are not used a lot develop a lot of other problems particular with relation to rubber parts, internal engine corrosion due to oil drainage, sludge and deep discharge of batteries amongst others.....

Don,

I agree with you 100% Fuel effiency mainly depends with ones driving style. I use my Starlet as the daily car & get around 12 -13KM per liter (not city driving) & this is with a relaxed driving style. But if I'm late for a meeting which is held in Colombo, I tend to be a bit aggressive & I have noticed it does 10 -11 KM at those times.

My uncle in the other hand is a relaxed & calm driver. He gave me those figures by seeing in the Fuel consumption gauage installed in the dash board.

Ohh yaaa ! Love the acceleration of that pocket rocket , well my 1.6 swift sports gives me 10-11kmpl and this is used as my daily car.
