Since the tax for trucks, lorries etc. is removed, are there any diesel luxury mini-trucks (the size of D*MO batta) that we can import?

At least two people can have a good ride without paying a s#itload of money to the government..

Also,

1. Are any single cabs included in this category?

2. Are small bus-like vans included in this category?

You can pimp up a D*MO Batta.... Put some fake leather seats, and 2 Haansi Putuwas at the back with two garden umbrellas on top. That is luxury for two people.

nobody is exactly aware about the actual reduction in duty............ as it was mention just "Lorry and buses ", and not in HS code wise.

so it will take at least one week to find out whether single cabs are also included in that category...............

probably it s only for the vehicles like prime-movers, tippers etc.

(1) 2 or 4 seats

(2) Diesel engine

(3) At least power steering and AC

Any vehicle that has a carrying capacity of more than 8 passengers including the driver is considered a Bus or mass transport. Hence the tax benefits. Limousines might fall in to that category, but then its dumb to bring them down for personal use, unless you are that godaya ASP mudalali..

Why don't you pay the normal tax like everyone else and get yourself a proper vehicle without trying to slip through the cracks..

Same thing happened to the first batch of Smart Cab buyers, they thought they were smart to escape the tax bracket until they were caught driving a 'Lorry' category with a C and C1 license.

YOu weight be able to bribe your way out of a traffic offence incident but if you need insurance the insurance company will kick you in the butt so hard for not having the valid license to drive in case of a crash. They can refuse to settle the payment citing that technicality.

yes few limousines were imported as buses, according to my knowledge............ but there it was not the tax (which was said to be somewhere around 2 million), the FOB of the vehicle which was high, and mind you even before this latest duty reduction, buses got minimal duty compared to other vehicles . so i dont think that this duty reduction was made for those limosines.

what i believe is that currently the gov is engaged in so many construction projects and probably they want to reduce the transport cost for those projects....

i think the "luxury trucks", you are talking about are vehicles like smart cabs............the current duty for a smart cab ( 5 year used) may be around 1 million.. so still they are cheap...

as i said you earlier, within 1 or 2 weeks we will get all those facts

you could import a Motorhome or one them buses stars ride around in with bedrooms and lounge area. But ur looking at 50 million before taxes so better off getting a prado with tax

what are those signs? so many ads..................

probably you may not aware that during the pre-budget period nearly 10,000 dual purpose vehicles entered the country as everyone was under the impression that gov is going to reduce the number of years from 5 years to 3 years for the used vans, cabs......... as a result now the market is flooded with vans cabs.....

but as you said still there s chance of reducing the taxes further for them, and lot of people are talking about it.............

Or a Isuzu Crew Cab.... those are really good workhorses. Put an old bath tub in the back and fill it with water and you have a small pool, run air line in to it and you have a Jacuzzi.

4 people can have a great ride in that... and if you 'swing' that way, throw some soap in to the barrel and pass a bottle of baby oil and the 4 of you can have loads of fun in the back...

Forget the bath bath tub, why not just make it a dual a/c cabin, quite simple as you get many refrigerated track cabins.. ( but u should get one where u can control the tempreature, ). Put in a nice comfy bed or two, it will be better than a Hummer, just that it does not have a proper bonnet....

You know that really IS an awesome business idea. You dont have to get a truck per say.. even an old van with a dual AC will do. Clear up the rear, put in a nice mattress and some nice curtains an you can rent out the van by the hour. Couples dont have to worry about going to sleazy hotels or cinema halls, when they can get get service anywhere in town. Then the van can be driven to where-ever the client wants and rented. Campus kids, got a couple of hours to kill between classes, boss and his secretary want to take a long "lunch" break, horny dude who doesnt wanna be seen going into a hotel with a 'working lady', prius owners who wanna discuss fuel figures and circle jerk (addional charge for more than 2 people at one time); have no fear the bang bang van is here!

PS: yeah; slow day at work for me.. clearly
