Synthetic Oil Or No Synthetic Oil

Recommended Posts

just to start an healthy discussion on whats best. on old engines I personally think its a bad idea to run full synthetic oils. what do you guys think ? I run semi-synthetic (Mobil 2000) on mine. its a '99 civic, that is maintained to the dot, every 5000km. but some people don't do this.so when we use synthetic oils the sludge get mixed with the oil and do bad things to the oil pump. (correct me if I'm wrong) other thing people say is synthetic oils may case some old oil seals and gaskets to leak.

any comments, views or personally experiences about this ?

To search, or not to search, that is the question:

Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer

The Slings and Arrows of the outrageous members,

Or to use google at the nearest computers,

And by learning to use them: to search, to google

No more; and by a search, to say you win

The heart-ache, and the thousand negative reps

That post is responsible for? 'Tis a indignation

Devoutly to be wished. To search, to google,

To search, perchance to be liked; Ay, there's the rub,

For in that moment of searching, what information may come,

When we have pissed off this mortal pericles,

Must give us pause. There's the respect

That or else we will not have, long life:

For who would bear the Whips and Scorns of Peri,

The threath of ban, the rests despise,

The pangs of despised bans, the appology's delay,

The insolence of other forum members

That one such as yourself always takes,

Well the point is, there is no point answering the same question over and over is there? There is also no point us Googling on your behalf. Another user has already posted you the link you requested which you could have also found via searching. Thus the only valuable contribution in this thread is from JDNet.

did you even read the question i ask and read the links other posted ? also did i ask you or any one to Google it for me ?

oh again, the answer to my questions are not there non both links or search on this forum, maybe there's some thing wrong with my eyes :D

I'm asking for users personal experiences, not what a company is saying to sell there products.

READ AND UNDERSTAND before you jump in to conclusions.

I know how to use a forum, and I know to search before you ask. :speechless-smiley-004:

Well if you are an expert in searching forums, you would have found the numerous comments I've made and the discussions we've had on this subject. Synthetic vs Semi Synthetic for older engines is a topic which has been bashed a few times over. Your searching skills should have uncovered them so why bother opening a new thread in the first place?

You might say what is the point of a forum if you simply direct people to existing threads. The reason is the number of net contributors vs subscribers is quite low, so it's the same people who contribute and after a while you get bored writing the same things over and over again (like I am doing now. Believe me I've had this conversation before).
