The agency has changed hands a few times, this is what I found on the net. We used to have a Upali Fiat , it was a good car and its a shame they could not continue it. Anyway the dealership is in Union place large as life at the previous Ishara Traders building.

FIAT first entered the local market in 1903 through Colonial Motors. In 1973, flamboyant entrepreneur Upali Wijewardene began assembling the FIAT till 1976.

From then the agency was retained by Colonial Motors before Premier Automobiles took over in 1993 until 2005 when Euro Motors came along.

CARBON B4,

You are correct about the history of that wonderful Fiat car. Upali Fiat was a very good car but he was interested more different tings than Automobiles.

It is at present handled by Ishara trades.

As for the OPs question, Grande PUnto was officially imported by Wheels Lanka (under their subsidiary, Euro Motors). Wheels Lanka still runs the official service facility for Fiats also stock/import spares from Italy and Turkey.

This is the contact info:

Peliyagoda Service Center

25A/14, New Nuge Road, Peliyagoda.

Tel: +94-11-5377152-3

+94-11-7887878-81

Hot-line: +94 772 612 612

You can also try ebay to bring down spares. WHeels Lanka people will gladly do the installation for you.

LOLC Motors import Indian FIat and probably Indian spares too.

When I checked 1 month ago, Wheels Lanka (Euro Motors) service center was still operating and they claimed that they are able to supply all necessary spares for Grande Punto Italian version (Similar to Abans Auto still importing Geely spares, although Geelys are handled by Micro now).

True that they no longer import Fiats.

BTW does LOLC import Puntos too? And do they have the same duologic gearbox as the Italian version?

I think UMC locally assembled UMC Mazda till 1980 and 1980-1983 the UMC Fiat.

Update to this thread:

Some more places to get Fiat Parts:

Janatha Motors - Pioneer Building Panchikawatta (There's a guy named Thushara who knows his Fiats. If the chassis number is given, he can find the parts)

Nelum Motors - Pioneer Building Panchikawatta (Has spares mostly for older Fiats. Has some body parts also)

Milano Motors - Panchikawatta (known in the area as Fiat House)

ITMC - Kalapaluwawa Rajagiriya (near Keells super in Ambagahahandiya - Angoda road)
