Engine Stops At "n"

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I used to stop the engine at "N" position (CVT gear system).

Is this harmful? Appreciate your rational thoughts please.

cheers

Not at all. I've seen people do this in traffic as you can fire the ignition from that position when you want to and slip the car back into Drive ( 'D' ). The only thing I would caution against is trying to force the transmission into park ( 'P' ) or any other gear with out turning the ignition on. The transmission needs electrical power to move, so as long as the electrical system is switched on when you move the selector, you should be okay.
