  1. Hi, I'm on the look out for a used Mk5 VW Polo. To be specific, I'm looking for either the 1.6 NA model with a manual gearbox or a 1.2 TSi with DSG gear box both being made in India versions. I guess these models were imported by the VW agent between 2012-2017 and have seen a very few running around Colombo 04. Would greatly appreciate if someone who might know any such owners pass on a tip regarding any of them for sale ? Thanks.
  2. Hello everyone, Im looking for a compact crossover and came across the VW T Cross. In comparison to the likes of the MG ZS, Toyota Raize, Hyundai Venue and Suzuki Vitara it seems to be a much more practical buy. I understand there’s likely very few owners due to the prevailing duty structure and price for such a class of vehicle, however, I’d like to know if anyone has driven the T Cross and their experiences with regards to comfort and practicality. Any advice in that direction or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Dear Experts, Recently I saw a very nice looking VW Polo ad published by a certain popular car dealership in Duplication road and started doing some research on the vehicle. It looked like a really good vehicle(to me), but the only problem is that it is not a Japanese vehicle. My knowledge about vehicles is not that great, but as I understand, there are certain disadvantages/hardships in owning a non-Japanese vehicle in Sri Lanka. I have a few questions that I would like to pick your brains on. 1. One of my main concerns is that there does not seem to be a VW agent in Sri Lanka. Is that correct? I know Drive One is now the sole agent for Audi, but do they also do VW? There is a facebook page with a shocking 34 million+ likes(even lot more than the population in Sri Lanka 😮 ) and the website URL as www.volkswagensl.com, but the last post on the page is in 2016 December and the website is dead. 2. How difficult would it be to maintain a VW in Sri Lanka? Are there any reliable places for maintenance and repairs? 3. Is it total stupidity to even consider buying a VW, given all of the above I have mentioned? Thank you very much in advance for your valuable input!
  4. Appreciate your expert advice on Audi A4 2011 2.0 TDI and 1.8T models. Whether these engines and transmissions are reliable? What would be the maintenance cost?
  5. Hi, can anyone tell me what will be the import tax for a Volkswagen transporter 1.9 TDI (1900 cc diesel from uk)? And how to calculate it?
  6. Dear members, Given the recent changes in the budget, I have narrowed my search down to the below vehicles and would like your input as well. My main concerns are comfort, decent ground clearance and maintenance cost. The Toyota Rav4 was also considered, but I would have to buy a 7+ year used vehicle which I am not keen on doing. My top picks 1. Audi Q2 1.0 Litre Turbo 2. Nissan Note E-Power 1.2 Litre 3. Honda Civic Hatchback 1.0 Litre turbo 4. Audi A3 1.0 Litre Turbo 5. Volkswagen Golf 1.2 TSI (Update: 28-11-2017) My low picks 1. Toyota CH-R 1.2 Litre Turbo 2. Suzuki Ignis 1.2 Litre Hybrid 3. Suzuki Baleno 1.0 Litre Turbo Thank you all
  7. Hi experts, Please advice me how can I import a Volkswagen Golf GTI to Sri Lanka. Recondition made year 2014 or later should be ok. Let me know is there any agency or importer which i can contact. Also, if you guys hv any idea about a rough price for that car pls let me know too. Thanks
  8. In my previous thread I showed videos of my VW Bora engine giving a grinding sound above 2000rpm..apperently it's coming from the A/C (no sound when AC is turned off) , Guys at Vishwa motors told me sound is coming from the condenser..Sometimes it becomes way too noisy (when the outside temperature is very hot , like around 2pm with lots of sunlight) , and it slows the vehicle down (like engine is slowed down suddenly) once every 10 seconds or so.. Since this is a German car , can normal AC repair shops do this? or do I have to take it to Vishwa Motors or Senok? How much will it cost? an approximate figure will do...thank you in advance..
  9. I have a 2002 VW Bora 1.6 and I recently noticed a strange grinding sound when the engine exceeds 2000rpm.. This issue is not always there though..it comes and goes..This sound comes when the gear is neutral as well as when the car is moving.. I have recorded the sound..Can be viewed by following the link below.. I also noticed this ticking sound when the engine is on...Not sure if it's normal or not.. your expert advice is highly appreciated..
  10. Does anybody know and can recommend a good mechanic who can troubleshoot an old VW? Thanks in advance!
  11. I'm planning to buy a Volkswagen PASSAT TDI 2004. I'm wondering whether it will be a good choice. Details are as follows. Fuel type: Diesel Engine capacity: 1,896 cc Mileage: 65,000 km Condition: Average 1st owner & maintained at Senok. That's what he said. Fully loaded with sunroof I did a small research and found these information. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Fuel consumption: 6-7 KM/L, 10-11 outside Reliability & Performance: Better than Japanese cars Maintainability: Very expensive & parts are available but not like Toyotas. Since I don't have much experience with VWs I thought of asking the experts. What's the reasonable price tag for this car? What are the common issues with this car? Any helpful information? Expensiveness of parts compared to Mitsubishi Lancers?(I had one) I have gone through the following links. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/983-vw-passat-18t-2002yom/?hl=passat#entry128600 http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14975-vw-passat/?hl=passat http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/8129-volkswagen-passat/?hl=passat http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/8062-vw-passat-18t/?hl=passat
