  1. I have a toyota Vitz 2017. All the gears I have are P,R,N,D-S,B. I don't know what really the gear 'B' stands for, but i think it means 'Engine break' when going in slopes to avoid using brakes all the time. Problem is I sometimes forget to change gear 'B' to 'D' when I am accelerating after a slope and go some distance without understanding. I only understand it when i feel the engine is not accelerating as it used to. So my questions are, 1.What is really gear 'B' stands for? 2.Did I damage my engine or gear box by accelerating for some distances in gear 'B'? Thank you!
  2. I have a kr41 townace which i converted to diesel with a 3c turbo engine 2yrs back. Its a good unit and has given no probs until now. It has an auto gearbox. Now there is a delay when upshifting of gears regardless of whether I accelerate hard or lightly. The 1st gear wont change until 20kmph however lightly I press the accelerator pedal. 2nd at 38kmph, 3rd at 56kmph and O/D at 68kmph and these speeds are fixed. It used to not be like this before, in the sense if I accelerate lightly the gears shift very early. Its a problem when driving in the city because the engine is revving unnecessarily. When driving quick its not a problem at all, the engine power and acceleration is all fine. I noticed this problem right after the recent service. but no atf change was done during this service. The atf has been changed in the previous service and its good. Please advice what I should do coz my regular mechanic is clueless. Thanks loads.
  3. Hi everyone, I feel a jerk when pressing the accelerator at low speeds in my axio 2008. This often happens when car is traveling at about 10 - 30 kmph and when i take the foot out of the accelerator and then start again to accelerate. Just when i start to accelerate car jumps a little. I also found a same thread with this problem here. http://autolanka.com/forums/topic/13402-toyota-axio-jerkingvibration-problem/ This is kind of exactly my problem too. But unfortunately i couldn't find an answer there. I took it to two mechanics and they couldn't say anything exactly and they suggests things like engine tune-up. Is there anyone who faced the same problem ? what could this be ?
  4. my mazda familia will not move in the mornings until the temperature increase.Further HOLD signe flashes until the car start moving.ATF is okay. What is the reason for this problem. How can I over come this problem.
  5. I am asked to replace tapper cover (rocker cover) and gear box mount for my Viva elite (100k+ kms done). Estimate for both at the agent is about 85k with engine tune up. Any members can share your experience with this change? Are these critical jobs which I can only the trust the agent with?
  6. Dear matts , suzuki every p17 van trip tonic on dashboard the gear box warning light showing and it’s no moving when i put in Driving mode what should i do ? What is the solution?

  8. Ok so I'm going to sound like a total noob for asking this question but... Have you guys ever heard of an automatic transmission (conventional automatic, not CVT or DCT) wearing off when it's in Neutral while idling the engine and the vehicle is stationary? I came across this post in an automotive forum that said shifting to N while stopped at stoplights/traffic could induce more wear and tear to the transmission clutches (not linkages and other stuff that gets used when using the shifter but the clutch plates themselves) than leaving it in gear and using the brake to keep the vehicle stationary. (I'll try and link the post, I was reading it on my mobile) I myself was in the opinion that the wear caused by either method is similar and negligible, but I just wanted to ask: have you guys ever heard of such a phenomenon?
  9. Hi Guyz, Hope I've selected the correct section to post my thread. I have a Daihatsu MIra 2017 New Face version. Yesterday I suddenly hit the vehicle in a bump and damaged the gear box cover. Appreciate if you could let me know a place to buy a new gear box and a place to fix the gear box. Thank you in advance guyz. Regards geek
  10. Are clutch oil and DCT transmission oil different in Vezel Hybrid? Do i have to change dct transmission oil only or have to change clutch oil too? As per my understanding two are different things and have to change both. TIA.
  11. What is the major issues of CVT against AT , some people said CVT has not long last survival, is it correct.
  12. Im facing an issue in my BJ5P related to the transmission. About a month ago on the way to Kandy my transmission started giving trouble. I was driving a bit aggressive and whenever I wanted to accelerate the kick down didn’t take effect smoothly. There was a jerk when the kickdown came and on 2 occasions there was even wheelspin. When I was not hard accelerating still there was gear slip when going up gears, clearly there was a gap and a long engagement time. Also when braking/slowing down there was a noticeable jerk with a clunk sound when gears were downshifting and some wheel lock. After that I stopped to let the car cool down and the issue was gone so I went on my way. Again after another 30mins the problem came back. I was planning to go on 800km+ journey and didn’t want to risk it so came to Colombo stopping 5,6 times on the way. First thing I did was change atf (mazda m5) and it seemed that the issue was resolved upto now. I even went on the highway multiple times and there was no problem. However a week ago I was driving a bit aggressively within Colombo and the issue was back, but mainly slipping on upshifts. Today also the same thing happened in the morning with a bit of hard acceleration stints. The notable thing is that the issue comes only when there is some strain on the transmission and when it gets hot. There is no delay in engaging gears in the morning like most others have, N to D shift is almost immediate. Given that slipping when hot is usually a sign of bad ATF im a bit confused as to what to do. Do I change ATF again and fully clean the gearbox and replace filter ? or should I just give to nilwala for repair ? I am planning to take the car to nilwala but I want a little heads up on what to expect.
  13. Hi All, Need some advice from the experts here regarding a possible gearbox failure in my NZT260 Toyota Allion (1NZ-FE). Couple of days back when I was on the way and fortunately closer to my home the car started to rev high up when accelerating and started experiencing a huge power loss to the wheels. I got home and I have kept the car in place till today without moving it to prevent any further damage. So basically the car engages the Drive mode and when accelerating the car barely moves (does not get past 20 km/h) but the engine revs high up. Only reverse is working without any loss of power. No noise or any cranking is heard from the tranny. Mechanics suggest that it is a common failure in CVT type transmissions in Toyotas' and it cannot be repaired, but replaced the whole transmission in full. All the maintenance have been done through Toyota Lanka and CVT transmission oil was replaced at the recommended intervals right throughout (CVT oil was changed in the last service as well). Toyota Lanka says the part is more than 900k, but recons are around 175k the least. The car has close to 186k mileage. Has anyone else running similar transmission experienced this? Is it possible to repair? If it has to be replaced, any tips on buying the part, replacement? Value all your ideas regarding this Regards.
  14. I've this Axio 161 A/T with 15k Milage Recently I noticed when I'm breaking (When it requires automatic transmission to downshift) I hear tick sound. I guess "ticks" are heard per downshifting gears. Is it an issue with my transmission or should I need to check this with a mechanic before next service?
