  1. Hi, I own a Toyota Corolla CE100 1993 SE Limited car. Both its Speedometer and RPM Meter are not working. Speed door lock is working precisely at 20kmph so auto electrician says sensor is ok (it is sensor type, no cable) problem is with the meter and meter should be replaced. All I want to know is that if I find a AE100 petrol car meterboard and fit only the Speedometer and RPM meter into my meterboard will it work. I checked and found that these two meters can be easily removed from the board and the have seperate electronic circuits. Thing is that, since it is a diesel car a glow plug indicator light is there in the meterboard which is not available in Petrol models. And it is bit difficult to find CE100 meterboard. But AE100 Petrol once are available. Thanks in advance
  2. Firstly speedometer was started to not showing the actual speed vehicle travelling, then start to fluctuate for some time, later stop moving, then again start working but not the reading is less to the actual speed of the vehicle

  4. Hello guys, I v experience sudden blinking of dashboard lights, (handbrake ,steering, engine, echo light) and speedometer going up and down and be at zero while driving . For 10 to 15 min. Then all acting fine. Dnt have time to go to a mechanic for next 2 ,3 days but i will end of this week. Pls advise me wt seems to be the problem and cost to take care of it. My car allion 260, 2007 , milage close to 100k . Have a photo attached,, that time i was doing around 40 kmph ,but spdometer 0 , showing these lights as i mentioned . Thankyou so much.
  5. Anyone know a place where i can get my car speedometer checked and repaired...? RPM meter works on its own schedule... The car is a Daihatsu Charade G100
  6. My old vanettes speedo glass has been faded , bubbled and cracked since I bought the vehicle and it kept getting worse and i've tried to find a suitable replacement for a while with no luck. Recently the glass cracked apart in two in middle and it looked terrible. Vanette C22 dashboards rare to find and one bugger asked 45K for a heavily warn out one. I could not spend that much for the glass and two air vents ( except those , the existing dashboard is fine) . So I decided to make a glass myself and it came out very nice. 25010M is the part I made. total cost : Rs 400/= ,only thing I bought was a piece of transparent plastic board from a number plate making place. here are few pics I took while doing it, only took about and hour for that whole job. I feel like an ass when I think about the time I wasted stopping at every breaker joint I see where ever I went. Sorry for the lack of extra details , but this is too easy for anyone to get wrong. If anyone needs more details please PM . 1. Removed front part of the cluster, and cracked glass is fixed with a piece of duct tape to take measurements for the new one. 2. Lay the glass on the plastic board and draw the outline with a pen 3. Cut the straight lines with a help of a steel ruler and a paper cutter. We dont need those small extrusions around the glass since we are going to duct tape it to the frame and hot glue it. Just cut straight. Cutting the plastic board is bit difficult using the paper cutter, put cuts on both sides before applying gentle pressure to break the glass - just like glass cutting, but put marks on both sides. 4. smooth out the edges with a angle grinder. 5. it has a small curve along two sides, use the angle grinder to grindout the plastic to get the previously marked shape 6. The original glass has a convex shape , no need to worry , we can use the frame around the dashboard to push the glass to the speedo cluster to get that shape, ( I tried to use the hot air gun to bend the plastic glass after warming it up and messed it up once - dont do it) 7. Drill out a small hole for the trip meter reset . 8. keep the glass on the meter frame and duct tape it. dont try to bend and close the gaps on the right and left sides. duct tape the top and bottom only. Use hot glue on places where the clip were before. Use it generously . 9. Fix it to the dashboard , tight in the screws well - and thats it! Looks just like new.
  7. I own a Nissan Bluebird SU14 Eprise (Diesel), YOM 1999, Manual. The problem I have is that the car gauges randomly stop working while driving and the rpm and speedometer drops to zero, heat meter drops (the entire meter board stops working). The gauges randomly stop and sometimes it comes back on in a few minutes but generally it stops working for hours. Also, the ABS check light is constantly on. (A mechanic also told me that if the gauges don't work, the battery doesn't get charged... so I'm afraid to drive my car). So, once the gauges stop working the car starts to jump when I give it a bit of gas. Moreover, sometimes when I take my foot off the accelerator, the engine keeps reving at 1250rpm for a few seconds before it drops to 750rpm (idle). It's all kinda messed up. Thus, I took it to a diagnostic guy and he told me after checking, that the ECU is faulty because the car was not getting connected to the diagnostic tool. But an electrician told me its the faulty gauges meter board (instrument cluster)... Does anybody know what the issue is?? It's such a pain.... Or do you guys know a specialist at ecu probs... also, how much does an ecu cost for an su14?? can we get a reconditioned anywhere in colombo? Thanks guys...
  8. hi all my toyota 121 (2001, manual) speedometer and odometer are not functioning, but it shows a constant mileage at all times (digital). when diagnosed, it gives C1541 and P0500 errors. has anyone got any idea what to do? a friend of mine said me to change the VSS sensor, another mentioned i will have to check ABS first. if someone has an idea of the problem, pls post here, also a place where i can get this done and the price of the speed sensor, where i can get an idea of the cost that i will have to bear.. thanx. -kee
