Dear Experts, Recently I saw a very nice looking VW Polo ad published by a certain popular car dealership in Duplication road and started doing some research on the vehicle. It looked like a really good vehicle(to me), but the only problem is that it is not a Japanese vehicle. My knowledge about vehicles is not that great, but as I understand, there are certain disadvantages/hardships in owning a non-Japanese vehicle in Sri Lanka. I have a few questions that I would like to pick your brains on. 1. One of my main concerns is that there does not seem to be a VW agent in Sri Lanka. Is that correct? I know Drive One is now the sole agent for Audi, but do they also do VW? There is a facebook page with a shocking 34 million+ likes(even lot more than the population in Sri Lanka ? ) and the website URL as www.volkswagensl.com, but the last post on the page is in 2016 December and the website is dead. 2. How difficult would it be to maintain a VW in Sri Lanka? Are there any reliable places for maintenance and repairs? 3. Is it total stupidity to even consider buying a VW, given all of the above I have mentioned? Thank you very much in advance for your valuable input!

Hi, I'm on the look out for a used Mk5 VW Polo. To be specific, I'm looking for either the 1.6 NA model with a manual gearbox or a 1.2 TSi with DSG gear box both being made in India versions. I guess these models were imported by the VW agent between 2012-2017 and have seen a very few running around Colombo 04. Would greatly appreciate if someone who might know any such owners pass on a tip regarding any of them for sale ? Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to purchase a new car for my daily commute. I'm currently driving a '08 Vitz and am looking to upgrade. I was initially settled on the Swift RS but then the VW Polo caught my attention given its styling and build quality. I'd like to get some information on maintenance costs for the Polo and its generally reliability. I'm looking to drive my next car for another 5 years so resale isn't a priority but generally a reliable & comfortable car that will be cost effective to run. My usual commute involves school runs and work during peak traffic hours so fuel efficiency is also quite important. Please let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance.
